I had enough 'he said, she said' when I was in fourth grade. You're all adults, I'm going to give you some simple adult choices to choose from.

    1. Shut up.
    2. Opt out
    3. Get banned.

    Easy enough, isn't it?

Are we polling for some sort of action to be taken against users posting others personal info. in these forums?

Well, I see that Moen1305 has chosen the 'opt out' choice. If anyone sees him back in here, please give me a shout.

    Anyone else?

I voted for "shut up" which goes back to the points I made in Debating 101 (first post).

Thank you for that. Now, as I explained to Moen, those who choose number one or two, and can't stick to it, get automatically moved to option three.

I don't think the "he said" "she said" is the correct terminology in this instance because it is a FACT that one of our members posted personal information about me. I wasn't even aware of the personal information until some of our members PM'd me in shock that someone would stoop this low. I enjoy this site PTD and want to stay involved.

My personal oppinion is that Peter went slightly overboard with this decision. So when and after I vote, be aware that I take this decision seriously and will abide by it at all costs. So long and good luck. I will now go and vote: the vote is for not only the Politics, Religion and World Events, but also the entire Coin Talk Forum.
Goodby and happy collecting. That is what I'll be doing.

Hah, maybe so Dan, but the message I hope you're all getting out of this is that it's going to be far better to sort out things among yourselves in PRWE than to get me involved. ;)

Peter. You are the administrator and in view of what happened I still feel that it should have been brought to your attention. Such information should not be posted publically without that persons permission and since we do not have the ability to sensor or delete such postings it has to be directed for consideration to those that do.

Peter I am not sure what you are asking here so have not voted, I am one of those who emailed you and I do believe that as the person in charge round here you needed to be made aware of someone posting personal info on another member. I need to ask if you would rather that no one had informed you? Please advise then I will be happy to vote.

I haven't voted either bc the vote doesn't condemn anyone for actions they have committed. The poll actually has nothing to do with what inspired all this drama in the first place.

The real poll should be, Who thinks MOEN made a serious violation of forum trust and etiquette and what should be done to prevent this action in the future? I don't know about punishment since I am not in charge of that, but I would suggest a forum rule that states any person posting other members personal info. without their permission should be banned!

I want to thank each of you for sending me a PM and informing me of what MOEN did. I would not have known if it weren't for your concern for a persons safety especially in this day and age.

Why don't we all just let it lay... Even after voting to just "shut up" about it, I've got one last thing to add. "It's over and passed." But I'll say this, there are only a couple of things which will get me fired up.

#1. Any sort of Radical Religious nutcase who spouts hate against the United States or our allies in this (HOT) War against Radical Islam. If you don't think we're at danger then you'd bettter open your eyes. If your on the 'other 'side. Stick tight we'll be getting to you in a moment...

#2. This is a coin forum, everyone here collects coins or deals in coins. NOBODY and I mean NOBODY needs any undue attention drawn to them or their families like address or private phone numbers being posted.

Politics doesn't bother me, views on sports doesn't bug me, etc... Just those two. Check this site out when you can as well. http://www.jihadwatch.org/ It'll put things in prespective for you...

I used to be a very regular contributor to this particular branch of the forum. But then I got too upset too regularly. Took away from the numismatic aspect of my membership here. So now I lurk, and post occasionally. My vote is "shut up."

I will lay low (shut up option). It has been heating up to much here lately, I tried to lighten it up with funny pics the emotions are running high.

Sorry to hear that Dan is now gone; the forums as a whole have lost a valuable member. I have to agree with Dan and say that this is simply a waste of resources and time. Peter, you made the PRWE forums opt-in/out for a reason - so that those people who don't want a heated discussion don't have to listen to one. I'd wager that it's a pretty fair bet that you realized that it would get serious in there.

As for fixing the problem, obviously, Moen did a wrong by posting personal info on a forum. There's no questioning that, but it's a fairly simple matter to censure Moen for his actions, and delete his post. Banning him is equally as effective and easy. That's the JOB of a forum moderator. I think that the whole deal (made only more so by this "poll") has been blown way out of proportion, and I'd caution that unless CoinTalk wants to see more and more members LEAVE, it would do well to keep the threats limited to private messages with those actively involved in any misconduct, rather than with the whole forum.

Yea, you're right. I did overreact. Y'all caught me on a bad day. This is the reason I avoid political debate too, cause my temper sometimes gets the best of me. ;)
