This is for the gun owners. If you can recall, how old were you when you received your first gun and how long was it until you could shoot unsupervised? What's your story? Here's mine, I was 8 years old when my Uncle gave me a single shot .22-cal rifle. I grew up in a very rural and remote part of East Texas where guns were a daily part of the locals life, killing coyotes, hunting, etc. Me 15 yrs old, in front yard w/coyote which had been killing calves. I think my dad let me go hunting by myself using his 30-30 when I was 11. Now those three years prior to this were filled with safety and common sense rules about firearms. You've got to understand I could walk off our front porch and about a 1/4 of a mile down the dirt road which ran by our house and be deer hunting. I never got one (a buck) that first year but saw plenty of doe. After that I practically lived in those woods, what memories, damn if I could go back in time... Ben
I think I was 10 or 11 when my brother gave me a marlin semi-automatic .22 rifle. I went and took the hunter education course, and shortly after I was hunting squirrels and rabbits by myself less than a mile from my house. I don't hunt anymore, but those are good memories too.
Hey I've noticed a pattern here, since my first gun was a 22 cal. long rifle, maybe the 22 cal. is a gateway gun. :mouth:
Savage 410 single shot shotgun!! Still have it....years ago I took a pipe cutter to the barrel and well lets say that it would fit into side holster..LOL RickieB
Hey whadda ya know a .22 short rifle collapsable armalite, that I was told to go shoot the rats on the farm, and not the pigs. I racked up quite the rodent count!
