You watch whale wars and root for the whalers. I like whales but those Sea Shepherd dorks really push my buttons. I really don't understand why the Japanese whalers don't just sink the entire fleet and blame it on an iceberg. If somebody attacked my ship and tried to disable it in the waters off Antarctica, I would do everything in my power to toss them into Davey Jones locker. Okay, your turn!
Just business, eh Lehigh? Capitalist to the end. Making a buck versus morals or legalities be damned. You ARE consistent!
There are courts of law Tom, these activists are plain and simple eco-terrorists. They deserve to die.
There are also laws about what they were doing. Didn't matter there though. They weren't breaking the law, there wouldn't be anything for the eco-terrorists to defend. Since you're playing judge, jury and executioner, I hope you'll permit me to do the same. I think the lawbreaking killers deserve to die. The fight for the almighty buck is justified by the buck holders once again.
Is this a good enough reason? If the current actions contributing to a multifaceted degradation of the world's oceans aren't curbed, a mass extinction unlike anything human history has ever seen is coming, an expert panel of scientists warns in an alarming new report.
And those same scientists will admit that we have only explored 5% of the worlds oceans. Not sure I want to follow advice based on hysterics and shoddy research. Are these the same scientists who failed in their attempt to scare the world about global warming?
I think we should just piss on the rest of the world and its oceans. There's a buck to be made...mega profit to take. Who cares about science when greenbacks can be harvested?
...and claiming we couldn't possibly do anything to hurt the earth isn't a capitalist's vision. It's BS.
We can't. The earth will be just fine long after the human race is gone. Furthermore, the single biggest threat to the environment is human overpopulation. Does that mean that you support legislation that limits/controls human reproduction? But you keep on believing that hairspray is to blame for your lot in life, cause that makes sense.
I may have to concede the point there. The earth will probably indeed be ok ultimately. The ability of it to support human existence might suffer a bit, but, what the hell. You're probably right. Onward ho! Piss on all that can be pissed on! Generate those profits and we'll worry about it later man! The earth was only put here for profit anyway.
You are taking this a little far. I stated that I like the whales, but those Sea Sheperd dorks drive me crazy. If the Japanese vessels are breaking an international whaling law, then it should be handled in the appropriate manner. Greenpeace denounces what these clowns are doing because they realize they are causing more harm than good. They are terrorists and pirates and deserve any hostility that comes their way.
I think humans can most definitely harm the earth. When I moved to Nevada, Lake Tahoe was 99.7% Pure water. It is no longer that. It's something like 99.1 now. That's only since 1994. I don't think the fish are to blame. As I see it. What's the harm in trying to keep pollution at bay and keeping the environment and its inhabitants in good condition?
Well, that idea butts up against crapitalism more and more. Bottom line is they're illegally whale hunting and routinely getting away with it for (what else) the almighty profit. I'm glad somebody, some group, has the balz to try and do something about it. Gives me a miniscule amount of hope that there is something good left on the planet that hasn't yet been corporately purchased.
