I personally would torture the hell out of someone to save any child's life but that is entirely different than State sanctioned torture. We prosecute people for that behavior. Now what credibility do we have in that arena and what right do we have to expect other countries not to torture US military personnel? We have none! Thank you Republicans.

Please tell us what makes it morally tolerant for one person to torture another person (for whatever reason) as opposed to a group of people torturing another group of people (for whatever reason)? Also, for purposes of your example, please define "torture the hell out of someone".

 

Are you arguing that torture isn't immoral? It certainly has been immoral for most of our history.

This is typical Republican logic. They are against gay marriage until they find out their son is gay. Republicans are against the Affordable Care Act until they have a stroke. Republicans are against anything they can't envision themselves being affected by. Perhaps the only way to make them see that torture is reprehensibly immoral is to torture a few of them. We can put John McCain in charge of that program.

What I, or you, or anyone else would do to save their own kids really has no limits and you know that and you also know that State sponsored torture is entirely different. There was no phony live or die situation that justifies what the Bush Administration did thousands of times to hundreds of people.
