    For 'the Fun of It'

The debate we aren't having about a murder in Oklahoma.

    August 21, 2013

Three teenagers were charged Tuesday in the killing of a white college student in Duncan, Oklahoma, and part of the story is what didn't happen. There was no saturation cable TV coverage, no press conference featuring Al Sharpton or Jesse
Jackson, and no statement from the Oval Office. The death of Christopher Lane, while as troubling as that of Trayvon Martin
will not become a national touchstone of racial and cultural debate or reflection.

But maybe it should. A 22-year-old Australian from Melbourne, Lane was attending East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, to pursue his dream of playing that American pastime, baseball. He was visiting the parents of his girlfriend in Duncan after the two had recently returned from visiting Australia. Lane was jogging down a street on Friday evening when, according to prosecutors, he was shot in the back.

Police chief Dan Ford said that 17-year-old Michael Dewayne Jones, who drove the car and was charged with accessory to murder after the fact, told police that the three boys were bored and had killed Lane for "the fun of it." Prosecutor Jason Hicks said 16-year-old Chancey Allen Luna was sitting in the rear of the car when he fired a .22 caliber revolver and killed Lane.

There won't be any debate over "stand your ground" laws or self-defense in this case because Lane had no chance to defend himself. There is no evidence so far of a racial motive. Lane seems to have been shot simply because he was there.

The murder is a national story in Australia, where people are contemplating the horror of such casual killing in America. Some are focusing on the ease of obtaining a gun in the U.S., as (inevitably) is the reflexive CNN, and it would almost be a relief if we could blame such a murder on guns.

Then we wouldn't have to focus on a culture that produces teenagers for whom the prospect of shooting an innocent man in the back on a Friday evening apparently raised not a scintilla of conscience. That is the deeper tragedy, and the real scandal, of too much of American life.

That is also an issue of far greater consequence to the future of young black men than the acquittal of George Zimmerman in his awful showdown with Trayvon. If only Mr. Sharpton and his fellow black leaders paid attention to what was missing in the lives of those three teenagers. Maybe President Obama would even care to use it as one of his teachable moments.

The Twitter account belonging to 15-year-old James Edwards, one of the three teens charged in the murder of an Australian student, is filled with graphic language about hating – and killing – “nasty white people.”

[Editor’s note: This story contains graphic language that will be offensive to some readers.]

Edwards and Chancey Luna, 16, have been charged with first degree murder in the killing of Christopher Lane. They each face life in prison and are being held without bond in Duncan, Okla. The third suspect, Micheal Jones, 17, has been charged with accessory to first-degree murder after the fact.

As reported by The Daily Caller, Edwards’ social media sites [Twitter and Facebook] show the alleged murderer glorifying hip-hop, racism, violence against women and drugs. Pictures on Facebook also show Edwards and Luna wearing gang colors and flashing gang signs.

Tweets by Edwards also reveal his hatred of “nasty white ppl”:

Still the fault of guns and lax firearm laws, Joy-Ann Reid and MSNBC?

Pathetically, they will say “yes.” Their twisted liberal “logic” tells them that even though Edwards expressed hatred for “nasty white people”, threatened to kill or maim “bitches” and was obsessed with gun violence and drugs, he would’ve never carried out his vicious hate crime were it not for the readily-available gun with which to do so.

Logical, rational people, on the other hand, are fully aware of the fact in most cases, if an individual is filled with bitterness and rage, he or she will stop at nothing to inflict that rage on anyone and everyone “responsible for it” – sooner or later.

Guns? No. Lax firearm laws? Of course not. Bitterness and illogical hatred of white people? Of course.
Until the left – and yes, the black community – comes to grips with the real and systemic causes behind the anger and violence in certain segments of our society, all the gun laws in the world will not stop the madness. Knives, pipes, fists and more will become the weapons of choice if need be.

This argument, sadly, will fall on deaf ears on the left. The same old worn out liberal drivel about how “society” [white people] is [are] responsible for creating a sense of hopelessness and despair among many of the nation’s black youth will be blamed for the tragedy in Oklahoma.

Ironically, it is the black community itself which will continue to most suffer. [See: Slaughter, Streets of Chicago.]

Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, who has been recently criticized for remaining silent on racially-charged crimes in which whites were the victims, said the shooting of a white jogger in Oklahoma by three young men is "frowned upon."
The oddly tepid remark came in a tweet, and was followed by a lengthier statement in which Jackson pleaded for an end to violence in general.
"Praying for the family of Chris Lane. This senseless violence is frown upon and the justice system must prevail," Jackson tweeted.
Lane was fatally shot last Friday as he went for a run in in the town of Duncan, which is about 30 miles southwest of Oklahoma City. He was on a baseball scholarship at East Central University in Ada, Okla., and had been visiting his girlfriend when he was shot in the back and killed.
One Twitter response to Jackson's tweet said, "But I guess you aren't 'Outraged' and won't be marching over it huh?"
The Wall Street Journal ran an editorial Thursday calling [IMG]Lane's killing as 'troubling' as that of Martin, but noted the general silence from Jackson, Rev. Al Sharpton and even the White House on the matter.
To be sure, police in Oklahoma call the shooting random. One suspect allegedly told police that he and other boys were bored and that they followed Lane and killed him for "the fun of it." Two of the suspects appear to be black.
Race was not mentioned by police but a recent report from The Daily Caller pointed out that one of the suspects had posted racist tweets in the past, including, “90% of white ppl are nasty. #HATE THEM.”
Jackson has been criticized for comments he made during the Zimmerman trial. He called Florida an ‘apartheid’ state and compared Martin’s killing to civil rights clashes in Selma, Ala.
Jackson, in an interview with The Associated Press, defended his remarks. He cited the state's voter laws and incarceration rates of blacks versus the general population as examples of "apartheid like conditions."
A phone call and email from FoxNews.com to Jackson was not immediately returned. Jackson has also been recently criticized for not speaking publicly of the brutal beating aboard a school bus caught on cellphone and surveillance video. He later mentioned the school bus attack on a Facebook post about Oklahoma killing.
"The recent incidents of violence in America most notably the murder of Christopher Lane an aspiring student athlete from Australia in Oklahoma and the attack of a student on a school bus in Florida once again calls each of us to a collectively resist all forms of violence in our society," the post said.

We'll hear from them as soon as they find a way to make some money off the tragedy...then we'll hear from the left.

The only reason that may not be racially motivated would be because those 3 were so unsocialized as to not know what was right or wrong. I will lay that blame on the give-me/theit-fault society of today. Whether you blame that on the government or the black society is immaterial. Until it is corrected, there will continue to be a crime epidemic in such societies.

Why would MORE gun violence in this country be any more noteworthy than ALL the rest of the gun violence in this country? I see nothing that distinguishes this gun violence from ALL the gun voilence you guys accept as the normal cycle of violence that the gun culture in this country promotes by making guns widely and easily available, glorifies guns both in movies and video games and as members of a political party that makes sure it stays that way, you actually vote to sustain such violence. I think that you are the last 3 people that would have a right to be upset about this type of crime. You all but pull the trigger yourselves and then hide behind an Amendment to the Constitution that has long outlived it's own necessity. Maybe as technology advances, you can even take on that role.

OMG! A white (Hispanic?) kills a black in self defense and you go APE. When 3 blacks kill a white both because of his race and because they were bored, you defend them. Absolutely positively only a liberal could possible think (?) like that.

You've turned this tragedy into a political talking point. The gun was merely a tool that these individuals used to carry out their violent behavior. You need to focus on the behavior of the perpetrators instead of focusing on their weapon of choice. The gun had nothing to do with this other than being in the hands of murderers. These guys were out to kill someone come hell or high water.

You've got to be joking! I'm extremely upset about this! Senseless violence is anathema to me. But, unlike you, I blame the perpetrator not the weapon.

With that remark, you can go"eff" yourself. Liberal moron.

Just what the hell do you have against the Constitution? It's the law of the land! You can thank the Founding Fathers for securing our right to defend ourselves.
