I would throw Fox and Friends (the morning news show) into the biased lot.

I've been a life long Republican and must say even though Fox caters to the right wing arm of our party, they do there best to keep opinion and news separate at least I think they do.

I've learned from this thread and through deeper analyization that the reason Fox beats CNN, MSNBC(Olbermann the troll and Man Haired Maddow) is because they aren't afraid to speak up for the average American and they do so in a calm/friendly but strong way..

Very Teddy Roosevelt esque. Walk softly but carry a big stick. That's what Fox does in my analysis.

You couldn't have analyzed too deeply if you think Fox is anything more than RNC spin.

People tune in, the ratings are high. I guess the people like what they are hearing & agree with it unlike Air America or the train wreck at MSNBC.

I don't know why it is Cons keep posting Fox's ratings. News organizations are measured by the quality of their content not how many people actually tune in. Polls do not equal objectivity and lack of bias. For some reason, that relationship is always alluded to and it really doesn't exist. How could one cable network with one percent of the viewing audience be used as a bell whether of opinion in this country? Like Fox News or hate Fox News, it is just entertainment.

It's just right wing propaganda. Some folks like having someone else think for them. Fox fulfills that desire. If the ratings are high, it just means that there are more ignorant people than I originally thought. (which is pretty much in line with what I have witnessed in our "time warp" everybody seems to be stuck in these days lately anyway). You want news...go to foreign news sources. You'll get actual news instead of paid propaganda, or even worse, Fox.

I find that most of the biases either Left ot Right are pretty obvious. The only thing that is really scary is that some people don't see them. You'd have to be might naive to miss what Fox or MSNBC are throwing at you. Or maybe you really want to believe just that badly. The smartest people I know never watch these silly infotainment programs and they easily know 10 times more than the idiots that sit in front of their computers and parrot their favorite talking heads.

Said it before and will say it again all news stations, papers etc have a built in bias which in the main depends on the political views of the owners/shareholders/sponsers, now that folks is reality you might not like it but those who pay the bills call the tunes.

You're 100% correct on that DeOrc. Fox is way right and MSNBC is way left. CNN is left center I'd say. I never claimed they weren't biased. I do watch MSNBC when I watch our propaganda news networks I admit. Particularly entertaining and enjoyable is their anti Fox ranting, which Oberman does a great job. Of course it's biased. That's why I watch it. If I want real news I go to the web.

Having a slant to your presentation towards one side or the other is simply an appeal to the biggest audience. You might report more human interest stories in the Midwest if you feel that you can bolster your viewing audience. You might do research that says brown haired men with mustaches are more trustworthy so you hire one to attract more viewers. You might present three positive stories for every one negative story to set your network apart from the others.
Then there is Fox cable news. Lying and spinning the truth with reckless abandon catering to the lowest elements in society and muddying the water by saying all news networks are biased. True, but not nearly to the extent that Fox has lowered the standards of objectivity and responsible journalism to. They seek the lowest level and always manage to find it.

There is not really much news on Fox News. Most of it is opinions and analysis shows. There is about as much news on Fox News as there is music on MTV.

I don;t watch much TV news but that is my impression.

Then switch the channel if you don't like it.

At least Fox is probably the only network that most Americans can stomach for news and yes, opinions. If their facts and news were wrong, you can bet that left groups like media matters or the the politco will be screaming..."See...see...they made a mistake!" in a 24/7 non-stop effort to to discredit them. And yes, the American public will not stand for it either if Fox was soooooooo wrong because guess what? You can still change the channel...at least for now.

Why do you think the left is pushing so hard for the "fairness' doctrine to destroy talk radio. They can't win in the free market arena so they run to the government to control just another aspect of our lives.

Face it...we all know that people like Moen love the Ivies and how state colleges, middle class voters, and those who dare to think outside of the limitations of the mainstream media only do that because we are just too freaking dumb to know any better.

Like Moen, that's the B.O.'s adminsitration's attitude now and has been the prevailing point of view since that group won the election. Their take is that anyone who opposes them is simply out of the loop...and I almost forgot...a RACIST! They really believe we don't know any better and need to be told how government is going to fix everything and run our lives. And they do not care that we oppose them because they believe that they will prevail regardless of our votes (i.e., Massachusetts), or anything else that conservatives do.

A good comparison is that they think they are the Mac's (hate to trash Apple users, but the point is made) of the world and we consewrvaticves are the poor shabby PC's.

Never mind that we do the bulk of the work and cost far less in doing so-----we simply do not matter to liberals, progressives or whatever name they dream up next. I hope that you all remember that when you pay taxes, fill out the census form, and vote this November. Face it...liberals like B.O., Reid and what's her face lift in Frisco will not represent you and do your will, they are simply taking your name to write a blank check for their own particular brand of circus at the expense of people that work hard, earn their money and make smart decisions.

But right there in the middle... You see it? Right there! "We think outside of the limitations of the mainstream media" That is EXACTLY the double-speak nonsense that Fox is pushing. They don't ask you to think at all. In fact, they spoon feed you exactly what they think you should be thinking and they do it 24/7.

Colleges, universities, and all institutions of higher learning dedicate their existence to teaching people how to think, not what to think. The conclusions a person comes to after they leave with their degree in a wide variety of disciplines are not scripted on a teleprompter or written into copy or fed to you with a heaping helping of innuendo, insinuation, and inference. You get the tools you need to think for yourself and conclude whatever you choose based on your experiences, your thought processes, and your potential. And for developing this most human of traits to its fullest possible level, Midas and his like-thinkers ridicule the educated as elitists. Let me ask you how many free thinkers Fox has produced lately? They cater to the least educated our society has to offer. The very people that would benefit most from what colleges and universities offer everyone. Instead Fox preaches division and thrives on us versus them. If that is representative of thinking outside of the mainstream media, you can keep it.

Midas I am going to ask you as I have asked others why is it that those who oppose President Obamas ideas have to say that they are called Racist if they disagree with him?? Who on this forum has called you or any other person a racist for disagreeing with him? I have yet to see newspaper, Radio or tv reports of people been branded racist for disagreeing with him. How many Republican Senators etc have been branded Racist by anyone for simply disagreeing with him?
Why do you (By you I mean many on the right in America) deem it necisery to keep bringing up the race card to justify your argument?

There is a practice the Right wing in this country has that you see over and over again. If they want to exhibit a racist ideology or a push a religious agenda or cover up their shortcomings, they start by accusing the Left of exactly what they themselves are doing. This defuses the rebuttal because it comes down to the Left being forced to say, but we’re not racist, you are.

For instance, the Right in this country has had the monopoly on racism for as long as anyone can remember. You look at how white their party is, you look at their opposition to civil rights, you look at the tiny numbers of minorities that support them, you look at their southern base, and a whole host of racially charged statements by their senior leadership and then you see them go after Obama tooth and nail and find it hard to imagine that they have suddenly shed their racism. Instead, they have turned the tables and accused Obama and his supporters of racism which in their minds anyway, justifies their own race-based attitudes.

Look at their religious base. They attack evolution by saying that science is attacking religion. Science couldn't care less about religious beliefs so these religious ideologues have to say that they are under attack by science when in fact, they are attacking science. A convenient juxtaposition of reality that poisons the well. Once you start looking for this tactic, it isn’t hard to spot.

Glad you asked...let me give you a few examples that if you have opposition to B.O.'s health care and sociailist government initiatives is then tantamount to the "R" word: racism. It is card that liberals play aloing with class warfare which is sooooo typical because it happens so often. Here are some examples...

How about bleeding heart liberal columnist David Sirota who recently characterized those who oppose Obama (and that would be a large swath of the electorate in terms of his health care plan) as a “racist lynch mob.”

Remember democratic representative Hank Johnson of Georgia proclaimed that rebuking Joe Wilson sufficiently was necessary so as to avoid a resurgence of Ku Klux Klan activity in the deep South? Can you believe he said and believes this?

Then there is the execrable Jimmy Carter idiot who weighed in with his sweeping indictment that, “an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man.”

What else? How about Maureen Dowd’s recent New York Time's column on the significance of representative Joe Wilson’s outburst of "You Lie" during President Obama’s recent speech to a joint session of Congress on our his health care “crisis.” This liberal wrote this:

“I’ve been loath to admit that the shrieking lunacy of the summer … had much to do with race,” she wrote. “But Wilson’s shocking disrespect for the office of the president — no Democrat ever shouted ‘liar’ at W. when he was hawking a fake case for war in Iraq — convinced me: Some people just can’t believe a black man is president and will never accept it.”

She did not stop there...Dowd then bootstrapped her argument for racism with the following statement: “But, fair or not, what I heard was an unspoken word in the air: You lie, boy! The fact that Wilson said no such thing is merely an inconvenient fact to be ignored in order to buttress her contention that what he actually said was simply “code” for something entirely different. Dowd merely helped us with the necessary deciphering.

Of course liberals like Dowd conviently forget about KKK Robert Byrd.

A little history...democratic senator Robert Byrd one time actually belonged to the Ku Klux Klan. Most liberals ignore this painful fact that the staunchest opposition to the Civil Rights Legislation of 1964 came not from Republicans, but from Southern democrats...yes, democrats.

One thing is certain, whether during the presidential campaign, or now that he is president, every time B.O. is in political trouble, his supporters are always ready with their race-based explanations for his misfortunes.

Almost forgot...Remember when Hillary attempted to capitalize on blue-collar opposition to B.O.'s candidacy was characterized by some as blowing the “race” dog-whistle? Another liberal, Slate’s Jacob Weisberg, proclaimed at one point during the primary campaign, that a B.O, loss would signal to the rest of the world that we were incapable of surmounting our racist past.

So there...here are few examples as you requested. Yet the question remains unanswered: can anyone criticize B.O. without being accused of being a racist?

Not according to the above liberal/progressives...

One can take this statement & substitute right for left or vice versa and it would be just as true.
