A while ago, I was watching Bill O'Reilly (ok, I know that was my first mistake), and he was interviewing a lawyer for a guy accused of crimes against a minor (we all know the appropriate term). Anyway, O'Reilly starts blasting this lawyer with comments like 'you make me sick', and so forth, because the guy was doing what he is supposed to do - provide the best defense possible.

So this made me really mad, because it's so typical of the right. Rules only seem to apply on a case by case basis. So what was supposed to happen? This guy that gets accused of a terrible crime should just not get a lawyer - or better yet, he should get a hack lawyer who presents the worst defense possible?

And then somehow, they think they are protecting this fine country from those criminal minds of the left who seek to actually use the legal system the way it was designed for - get this, those leftists even want to use the legal system to defend criminals... EVEN THE BAD ONES! When everyone knows they're guilty... just lock em up and throw away the key. Am I right or am I right?

I still do not hear anyone addressing the fact that the righties call the ACLU anti christian when the ACLU are MAJOR defenders of the Christian faith.

...."And when you say that the ACLU was designed to destroy the nation, I say it was designed to bring to light the obvious hypocracies and force people to accept that our constitution protects people who we don't like, in the exact same way it protects people we do - and if that's enough to destroy the system, we have a pretty weak system indeed" Rick.

ACLU started out as a communist organizaton and the people who head it from the begining always hired other people who hated either democray or religion. This is not an old problem but a continuing one. An example of the hatred or very least lack of respect for the democratic process was shown after Alaskans overwhelmingly voted for an amendment affirming heterosexual marriage,
former ACLU Executive Director Ira Glasser remarked,
"Today's results prove that certain fundamental issues should not be left up to a majority vote."

The ACLU organization handles nearly 6,000 court cases annually from its offices in almost every state. Make a list for me on how many pro-christian or pro-jewish cases they have represented.

I could post ten pages of pro-muslim cases that they had represented with out breaking a sweat. And those are cases involving people who are on record stating that they want to kill us and in cases have past records of religious killings.

Again, I ask: Is our country so weak, in your opinion, that a communistic lawyer organization represents an honest threat to our system's survival? I'd say that's pretty scary... I mean, would you be this scared if a bunch of moderate republican lawyers gathered together and formed an organization to give legal representation?

Should we pass a law stating that communists or muslims can no longer be lawyers, or at the very least, ban together in some lawyer group?

There is an old military term called the "Third Front". The "Third Front" is basically when a nation has an enemy entrenched within and that enemy is trying to destroy it from within. Usually the "Third Front" does not win the war but it's objective is to undermine the resolve and ability of the nation under attack to defend itself proper.

    Note:
The ACLU has worked with terrorists like Sami al-Arian, the North American head of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, to undermine the security protections put in place by both the Clinton and Bush Administrations in the wake of terrorist attacks.

The ACLU has worked with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) -- a Hamas spinoff, several of whose leaders have been indicted for and convicted of terrorist activities, the ACLU has lobbied hard against heightened scrutiny for passengers from terrorist countries at airports and border checkpoints.

Being a lawyer is one thing. Trying to invert the law which in effect is to change what the laws purpose was meant to be is another matter. Now any organization that files thousands of law suits a year is bound to find at least one judge or pick one jury that will come back with a verdict or ruling that is not valid yet legally binding once ruled.

100% of the ACLU cases that I have pessonal knowledge of have been on behalf of Christian groups. They really do not discriminate they will help ANYONE whose rights are being trampled. Now-a-days thats Muslims.

Sounds like you throwing bombs. Or just deluding yourself. Can you back your statements with facts. I have gone out of my way to do so with mine.

It's amazing how far some people will go!

    Subject: About Cindy Sheehan

What is most interesting to me is that the press gives this little bunch of people who are protesting with Cindy so much air time without discussing Cindy's background. This is a case of more press bias.

It has been pointed out on just a couple of media outlets that Cindy divorced her first husband and left her son with him to be raised while she became a political activist for the Democratic Party.

She had very little to do with her son in his growing years. She remarried. Her 1st husband also remarried. The boy's father raised his son with his new wife. They miss their son and mourn the loss of his life. They have stated that they are very proud of their son and that they agree with the stance of America in Iraq and on terror. They said that their son was eager to serve and to go fight the terrorists in Iraq. He volunteered. How many news stations carried their interview? Not many.

So the son dies in Iraq and then Cindy shows up to make a stink. She gets an audience with Bush. That was not enough. She goes to Crawford and demands another audience. How many news stations carry the ongoing saga of Cindy? Practically all of them. Was this scripted or what? For what purpose and who payed the expenses?

Cindy didn't care about her son. She let another woman raise him. Cindy doesn't care about the other soldiers in Iraq. Cindy cares about her liberal, feminist agenda and about using the death of her son to lobby against Republicans and Bush. And the press is helping her. Why?

Then 2 days ago, Cindy's 2nd husband filed for a divorce from Cindy. Cindy sounds like an opportunist who did not have the sense of responsibility to even raise her own son. Now It looks like her 2nd husband is fed up with Cindy. We middle-Americans should also be fed up with Cindy. We should be fed up with the press. They manipulate us into their "group think" and into the responses that they want on their polls.

Yes it is the one case spoken of above but when you have your rights trampled and someone defends you for free it makes an impression. I hope that the ACLU are there when you need them.

Like the 3,000 plus who died during 911. The ACLU and their law suits against the airlines prior to 911 and the "politically correctness" climate they created with all of their other law suits and threats to put people out of business.

Then people who are suppose to protect us get that power taken away and
    911 happened.

Read the entire 911 report. It was alot different then the sound bites on the news.

the ACLU was not responsible, in any way, shape, or form, for the tragic events of 911.

I'm aware you did not directly say they were, but trust me, 10 out of 10 people would say your post implies as such.

Old Dan had made a post on Cindy Sheehan.

Now let us look at what she is against.

Right now Iraq is in the process, it will be a long one, with creating a democracy.

This democracy if takes root may spread thru out the middle east.
Which in turn means we may avoid a total Jihad conflict which would be a massive World War III complete with nukes being exploded in our cities.

So why is Cindy so bent on slurring and ending our efforts to bring democracy to the middle east and avoid the death of hundreds of millions?

    Rick, they are against profiling.
Rick, they sued the airlines for profiling.
Rick, the airlines stopped profiling for defending the suits are expensive in their own
    right.
Rick, the 911 hijackers met every profile list.
    traveling alone.
    traveling without luggage.
    traveling with one way fares.
    being of middle eastern descent.
    being on suspect terrorist lists.

Rick, the ACLU represents known terrorist groups activitly engaged in this country.

They are part of the "Third Front" against this nation.

Look it up yourself. Look up how they hamper security of our borders, of our ports, of our airlines.

    you're right Andy...

Lets all start fearing and banishing whatever doesn't agree with us. If some reckless person like Cindy Sheehan starts voicing opinions we don't like, we will somehow show how she supports the deaths of millions. If we don't like communists lawyers, let's just blame 911 on them...

Let's start back the communist hearings, and clear out hollywood!

A chicken in every pot, and a soap-box under every foot.

Cindy Sheehan has the right to protest outside of the Bush Crawford residence.

However, I only wish that the whole story was being told by the press.
(I believe this was one of the points that OldDan was making.)
She is not being reported on she is being placed upon a pestal to be admired.

What I am pointing out that she is actually protesting against women's rights as well as democracy in the middle east. That she is undermining a position that this country took to try to avoid the deaths of hundreds of millions. The only thing that will stop Jihad with the lowest cost of life is to introduce the ideas of democracy to the mideast region and stop sending broadcast messages from our own nation that we are evil. How can we stop getting the middle east to stop thinking of us as the devils when network TV is pushing and transmitting that message to them.

Over 6,000 cases a year the ACLU files. They are not lawyers but abusers of the law.
They are not protecting our system but using it to destroy it. I am calling it as it is and I believe that the RICO act could be used against them but that would take a Democrat President and another 911 to happen.
