Great point, OldDan! Kind of makes you wonder what kind of profit ... er, tax revenue ... other countries are making. You know, the ones about which we're told "they have it worse than us."

You Americans are at the mercy of Russia, companies like Lukoil even now have stations in New York, and you buy lots and lots of oil from Russia. And have massive foreign debt:hail: Keep up good work America, we love you!

Lukoil now operates the gas stations on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey. This is a whole lot better than the cold war. But be careful that you don't underestimate the ability of the USA to adjust. This isn't Europe and if need be, there is probably no other nation on the planet that could make significant cuts in oil imports over a short period of time, accept a recession in the process, then continue to prosper when we come out of the other side.

Regarding our debt to foreign holders: Who is in more trouble, the borrower who won't pay, or the lender who has no chance of getting the money back. In reality you will get the money back because we'll just print it, but not permit you to spend it. The US has trashed its own currency before in our history when it has suited our needs. What makes you think we won't do it again?

NAME ONE 405 BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY THAT HAS DOUBLED ONE JUST ONE. NO WAY YOU SIMPLY CAN NOT.

OIL SUPPLY IS NOT THE PROB IT IS A COMBO BETWEEN REFINING AND WORLD EVENTS.

CS YOU ARE PRETTY CONDESENDING FOR BEING SOOOOO WRONG

What gets paid to China then goes into gold reserves and other commodities. Similar in Russia. Interest rates in USA are going up, because money getting more expensive with China divesting of some of USA Treasury bonds.

Actually borrower just keep borrowing, but USA is becoming country like Brasil, where they have inflation devaluing currency to worthless every few years and interest rates are ridiculous. Only a matter of time, USA will be "developing" nation.

Americans are too dependent on big cars to get around, while in Europe most people use public transport or drive very expensive but small and economical cars.

Maybe Danr should take Macroeconomics again or pre register when he graduates from daycare school. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

It does have everything to do with SUPPLY AND DEMAND! :headbang: If you can't grasp that concept there is no hope. Not that there was any in the first place, some people are just born with no hope at all.

the bottleneck is in refining and all you have to do is watch Nightly Business Report once in a while to know that there is a huge premium built into oil prices due to the unstable political situation (like on the 25% level).
