Whither goest the GOP nomination?

Obama has thrown me a few curves but most of the time I think he's been acting pretty much as we or at least I should have expected him to act. If you examine what he actually said during his campaign he comes across as being about as radical and Left Wing as Eisenhower and during his presidency he has been true to form, although I doubt that Ike was as timid as he is. I think Liberals did a lot of projecting. I did my share.

As for circumstances beyond his control, some are but if he didn't see them coming he's not half the political pro people give him credit for being. And I don't see that his wont for making concessions before even sitting down to the bargaining table is an effective strategy for dealing with a united and recalcitrant opposition.

 

I agree that he was somewhat naive and may have thought people would continue to rally around his ideas and force Congress to agree with them. Congress is a mish-mash of misfits and is usually only swayed by money and the threat of not being re-elected. I also agree that in the last year or so he compromised wayyy too much with the Republicans in Congress. I would have rather had him stick out a middle-finger to them and start using the powers of the Presidency (as enhanced by Jr.), which he may have recently started doing. I can see timing is an issue too though, in that if he had done as I had suggested (minus the finger...some in America take offense too much) it may have been too soon, whereas something must be done within the next year... in order to be re-elected.

 

You've hit the nail on the head! He could burn down the modern equivalent of the Reichstag and blame it on the Republicans. The entire country would rally around him, suspend the Constitution (of which the liberals have little use for anyway), he could proclaim himself "Leader" and dictate what needs to be done for the good of all. Yeah, that's how he could get around those stubborn Republicans........!

 

Be thankful I'm not the President, or as I would insist on being called "Ohhhhh, Mighty One!" (under threat of me boot to thine head). Yeah, I'd be wayyy tougher lol

So IF Obama does this... uses the same tactics as the previous president used... I'd have to ask what you thought of Jr. when Jr. used them? Personally, I'd rather those powers be held by someone like Obama then the limp hand of Jr.

 

Ya know, here's a question for the lefties among us:

You love to call the Right "obstructionists" but what exactly has BO wanted that he didn't end up getting?
Stimulus? He got it. Obamacare? He got it. Spending allowance increase? Got that too. His jobs "Act"? Executive order!
Come to think of it, he has gotten everything he's ever wanted. So why aren't we better off?

 

Now, THERE is a question! Why aren't we better off? I'll tell you why we aren't better off. Because Obama got everything he wanted.
