I'm happy to see that Republicans aren't going to allow the Obama administration to sweep Solyndra under the rug:

Republicans may subpoena White House staff on Solyndra

    February 15, 2012
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republicans in the House of Representatives on Wednesday threatened to subpoena five White House aides in their investigation of Solyndra LLC, the failed solar panel maker that received more than $500 million in federal loan guarantees.

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton and Cliff Stearns, the lawmaker who has led the probe, said the committee would vote on Friday to subpoena the staffers unless the White House makes them available to testify.

They are Kevin Carroll, Kelly Colyar and Fouad Saad of the Office of Management and Budget, Heather Zichal, a top White House energy official, and Aditya Kumar, who worked for former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and now works for Vice President Joe Biden.

A White House spokesman accused Republicans of dragging out their investigation to try to score political points.
"Despite no evidence to support their accusations - or perhaps because of it - the committee continues to demand more materials with no real relevance to the Energy Department's decision-making on the loan," said Eric Schultz.
The committee has previously issued subpoenas for White House documents related to the department's $535 million loan guarantee to Solyndra, which filed for bankruptcy last year and was raided by the FBI.

The California company's failure has been an embarrassment for the White House after President Barack Obama visited the firm in 2010. His administration has promoted clean energy as one way to create jobs.

The liberal media keeps burying it. When is the last time any of these (Solyndra, LightSquared, etc.) have even been mentioned in the major liberal television/newspaper/internet outlets?

With all the trouble Obama is having with the Solyndra scandal, Fast and Furious, etc., this certainly doesn't look good either. Just why the hell won't Geithner comply with the subpoena? I thought Obama promised a transparent presidency this time around? So much for the forked-tongue president:
Lehman creditors push for testimony from Geithner

    February 17, 2012
(Reuters) - A committee of Lehman Brothers creditors is seeking to force U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to testify in connection with an $8.6 billion dispute between Lehman and JPMorgan Chase & Co, Lehman's banker before its collapse.
Geithner should comply with an August 2011 subpoena to testify about JPMorgan's demands for $8.6 billion in collateral from Lehman before the company went under, Lehman's unsecured creditors' committee said in a filing in federal court in Washington.
Geithner was president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in September 2008, the month Lehman filed for bankruptcy. At the time, JPMorgan demanded $8.6 billion in collateral, purportedly as a guarantee against potential losses.
The creditors' committee said Geithner may have "unique" knowledge about those demands but he has refused to comply with the subpoena.
A spokesman for the Treasury said Geithner has already given public testimony about Lehman's failure and has "cooperated extensively" in the dispute over the collateral.
"Treasury and the Fed have provided thousands of pages of documents and arranged for depositions of numerous other witnesses," spokesman Anthony Coley said. "Given all the available information, it is unclear why the plaintiffs continue to insist on unnecessary depositions."
The collateral has become the focal point of litigation as Lehman tries to recover some or all of the money for the benefit of its creditors. It is working with its creditors' committee on that front.
Its lawsuit against JPMorgan, filed in 2010, accuses the bank of hastening Lehman's collapse by using "unparalleled access" to its finances to extract the collateral.
In the days leading up to Lehman's September 15, 2008, bankruptcy filing, Geithner, in his role at the New York Fed, made more than 35 phone calls to then-Lehman Chief Executive Richard Fuld and at least 10 calls to JPMorgan chief Jamie Dimon, according to the creditors' committee.
Some of those calls centered on the collateral demands, and Geithner should be required to reveal what those calls entailed, the panel said in the filing.
JPMorgan has filed a counter-lawsuit in the matter, saying Lehman left it with $25 billion in unpaid loans secured by undesirable assets Lehman traders referred to as "goat poo."
Lehman's restructuring plan, approved by a bankruptcy court in December, figures to pay creditors roughly $65 billion. The company hopes to officially emerge from bankruptcy and begin paying back creditors in the coming weeks.
The motion to compel Geithner's testimony is Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc v. Timothy F. Geithner, U.S. District Court, District of Columbia, case number unavailable.
Lehman's case against JPMorgan is Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc et al v. JPMorgan Chase, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, Adversary Proceeding No. 10-03266.
Lehman's bankruptcy is In re Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York, No. 08-13555.

    From the article:
    ___________________________
House Speaker John Boehner reportedly pushed President Barack Obama on Wednesday to make Attorney General Eric Holder comply with the congressional subpoena of Operation Fast and Furious documents.
    ...
Holder has failed to comply with House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa’s Oct. 12, 2011, subpoena of him on Fast and Furious. Holder has thus far failed to comply with all 22 categories of the subpoena that requires him to provide Congress with documents relating to Fast and Furious. On 13 of the categories, Holder has provided no documents. On the other nine subpoena categories, Holder is still far from compliant.

Issa is planning to move forward with contempt of Congress proceedings against Holder if he continues failing to comply. The Department of Justice claims the contempt proceedings are “unwarranted.”
    ___________________________

I have to ask WHY Holder hasn't complied with the subpoena. Where is the "transparency" in government that Obama promised???

So, getting past your silliness, what do you think of this Fast & Furious thing? Is it right for Holder to withhold documents that he has been ordered to turn over? What do you think about Holder being caught lying about what & when he knew about Fast & Furious? I'm just curious to hear what a hardcore lib thinks about this issue.

Eh, I'm still waiting on whether or not you actually believe the "enhanced interrogation" methods are a vacationer's dream. Or you could always admit you lied when you said it. So which is it? Is "enhanced interrogation" torture or not? No lies this time!

I never made that statement. Now if you would like me to clarify anything I've actually posted, I'll be happy to do so....the only rule is that you can't ask me to clarify something you've made up, embellished, liked about, etc. Get it?
Now, what about this Holder question I asked you earlier?

So you never called torture a romp in the park on a sunny afternoon with a scantily-clad vixon who wanted nothing more than to rub herself down with glaze and roll around on the ground with you until the sun went down and she had to go to bed to get some rest so she could wake up and get to work so she could afford more lotion? Really? Ohhhhhh, now I get it! ...It was you, but you didn't want to admit you lied about wanting to meet her in the park again the next day 'cause you had other plans and other scantily-clad ladies that you wanted to meet and roll around in other fields with so you lied to her.

    You CAD!!!

...so explain to me again how torture is a lot like swimming naked with a bunch of dolphins in the middle of the ocean at night with the stars overhead and a warm breeze wafting through the night sky......I didn't quite get it the first time...:D

Romney goes to Solyndra: unannounced visit to controversial energy company

FREMONT, Calif.—Mitt Romney has made the Obama administration's loans to failed energy company Solyndra central to his argument that the president doesn't understand how to create jobs or stimulate the economy. The company received more than $500 million in federal funds.

On Thursday, Romney made his most blatant attempt yet to link Obama to Solyndra, making an unannounced visit to the company's headquarters in Fremont, Calif. The Republican candidate rode a bus with his traveling press corps to the site, riding shotgun for the half-hour ride.

Upon arrival, Romney spoke from a lectern set up on the side of the road outside the company's front gates, the same building where Obama held a 2010 event to tout the administration's investments in private business.
Motioning to the building, which now has a "for sale" sign on its exterior, Romney noted that Obama had touted the company as a "symbol of the success of his stimulus." But now, he said, the company is a "symbol" of other things, including "gross waste" and a "conflict of interest," citing the fact that Solyndra's executives were donors to Obama's 2008 campaign.

"It's also a symbol of how the president thinks about free enterprise," Romney said. "Free enterprise to the president means taking money from the taxpayers and giving it freely to his friends."

Ronney's visit to the site was shrouded in secrecy. Reporters traveling with the Republican nominee were not told where they were going or what the candidate would be doing. The campaign press bus was driven to Romney's hotel just outside Palo Alto, where the candidate and his top aide, Eric Fehrnstrom, climbed on and sat in the bus' first row of seats. The details of the event were embargoed until Romney arrived outside the Solyndra site.

According to a senior Romney aide, who briefed reporters on the way to the event, the visit was not announced to the public because of fears "the Obama administration" and the company might try to block the event from happening.

Asked if the campaign really believed the White House might try to block Romney's event, the aide replied, "He is the president."

During a press availability with reporters, Romney defended his campaign's secrecy about the event.
"I think there are people who don't want to see this event occur, don't want to have questions asked about this particular investment, don't want to have people delve into the idea that the president took a half a billion dollars of taxpayer money and devoted it to an enterprise that was owned in large measure by his campaign contributors," Romney said. "This ought to be a big story, and I think there are a number of people among the president's team who don't want that story to get out. We wanted to make sure it did."

Asked specifically he if believes Obama would have stopped the event, Romney dodged the question.
"I just think we wanted to make sure we would be able to have this event without it being shut down," he said. "We recognized we would not be able to be on the property across the street, and this is public property, and so we felt that if we came here that we'd be able to carry it off."

    Fact Check Romney on Solyndra

Speaking in front of Solyndra's offices, Mitt Romney claimed, "An independent inspector general looked at this investment (Solyndra) and concluded that the administration had steered money to friends and family -- to campaign contributors." An AP fact check reports, "There is no proof -- and it appears unlikely -- that Energy Department Inspector General Gregory Friedman was talking about Solyndra when he testified in March 2011 about stimulus contracts."
