I thought I better find some common ground with Andy and Old Dan. I think Tasers are great, I honestly believe that they have saved hundreds of lives (both criminals and cops). The few people who die of being Tasered are a fair trade off for the hundreds or even thousands who have been saved. Can you imagine being a cop and having some guy refuse to put a knife down. They used to have to shot to kill in those cases, now they can taser.
Well Danr your getting closer, so I guess there is hope for you yet. I think the police should have every right to shoot your sorry ass if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. Be that with a taser or a firearm. If you can't understand the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, you had better always have an interpreter on hand at all times. I also happen to believe that if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English! I will even go so far as to say that if you wanted to sell me anything, or teaching any subject in a public school, other than a foreign language, you must do it in English! Period.
Yep I 100% agree with olddan on this if someone threatens a cop with a deadly wepon then shoot em, unfortunatly over here if you shoot someone you have half a million forms to fill out, so tazers are good LOL Our Police do a job that I would not be able to do so deserve our support. As for learning English again I agree, the number of Imigrants in this country who can not speak the language is appaling. De Orc
the are legal to everyone in FL. dont know about the rest of you. my girlfriends mom lives alon and she got a fancy one. it shoots like 15 feet. and when you shoot it it had identifing confetti(looks like colored hole punch paper with little numbers on it) i think they are a great tool in the right hands. i can see people getting mugged real easy with the little ones. but other that that they are great
A wife, dog, and gun are a man's best friend....(not always in that order)...I find Tasers great....let every police man have one...but I'm also for the gun...if there is a killer near me with the intent to kill me and I have a gun or a taser to use...I would use the gun and I wouldn't be going for an arm---when you hunt with a police man you learn how to shoot pretty good...at long and short range... so don't come trying to get my coins!!!! Tasers are great for things like hostal people, riots, dogs that are going after cops, and such.... One thing I would like to do is go into the Fish and Wildlife service...that is if I couldn't get a job dealing in coins...so where do I stand... There is a place and time for a Taser....but there is a place in time for a firearm...and to use it. Speedy

There are times but if a person comes on YOUR land...and has in his mind to harm you or your kids or wife...the law is that "that person is paid for"...in other words...that is one time when there aren't forms to fill out...I would suggest that you have a few people that can back you up if need be but that is the law as I understand it Speedy
Here in the Phoenix area (specifically Mesa) we have had many police shootings. I really feel for the cops here. What is a cop to do when a 14 year old guy on meth refuses to put a knife down. Thank God they now have this option.
If you're not going to put a gun or knife down for the police the first time your'e arrested, it will happen again and again. I mean, most of these type of people end up dead anyway. Bullets are cheaper than taser guns. My $0.02.......
Tasers are necessary for when someone who is not typically have criminal intent behavior is out of control and can not be reason with. Tasars are meant to be used to protect that person from harming themselves as much as from harming police who are trying to subdue him or her. People who fall under this would be people who have taken drugs, who are overly drunk, and who have various mental issues. The problem with the drug thing is if someone is on to much coke or speed, the tasars might not work or could cause a heart attack. At least that is my understanding.
