Where's all this hostility coming from?

Your post made me laugh because last time I heard, it was Texas and several Tea Party groups trying to manipulate textbooks to omit references to slavery, evolution, and several other re-writes of this countries history. I guess putting that type of party line in textbook is just fine with you and the fact that you cannot produce any concrete examples of Socialist taking over textbooks for nefarious purposes is unlikely to convince you that you are barking up the wrong tree but I find it pretty convincing myself. I'm good, but even I can't fix stupid. :)

Well...whatever the details happen to be, it doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to see that our Public Education system is running off the tracks...to the Left.

    Hostility is strong in him.

During the Wisconsin collective-bargaining demonstrations, he advocated violence in the streets and wanted to burn down the State House.

We're dealing with a person who unabashedly vocalizes his violent intent, but I expect no less from him since he's a liberal. I suspect he may have been involved in violent activity when he was younger and/or may have been diagnosed with mental issues. This is probably the reason why he doesn't mind killing unborn children and, since I suspect he can't legally carry a firearm, why he is against the Second Amendment.

Joe, Political party "D" supports Public Education with a touch of Marx, Political Party "R" supports Private Education with a touch of Christ. Both want to promote an indoctrination steeped into their own world views. Here's a radical concept, provide students with the tools to make their own informed decisions. I had a high school history class that would only allow us to use primary sources and were required to come up with an opinion. We weren't taught from a book with someone else's slanted opinion, we had to come up with one of our own and be prepared to defend it based on the historical writing of the day. FYI, I also attended a public elementary school that had Bible class once a week, which I opted out of. I was never once teased about it or beaten up in the playground for being a heathen.

I really won't pretend to know what your exposure to the public school system is but I can tell you that I have daily exposure though my kids, through my job, and through my neighbors many of them who are teachers, professors, principals, and education professionals. I am pretty much steeped in education. This political agenda at the classroom level you guys speak of is pretty nonexistent in my experience. There are far, far too many other issues that have to be addressed on a daily basis than some grand conspiracy of Right vs. Left. I also deal with education at the state level and I am often in Springfield meeting with officials that are pushing various education initiatives for political purposes and I can tell you that when I speak to Republicans, they predictably are not pro-education. It literally always comes down to money for them. Not quality, not concern for children, and not making the system better but taking more and more money away.
Those people tend to remind me of people like Yaky. They actually believe that there is this Socialist network trying to brainwash our kids into Marxist dogma. Plainly, looking at Texas and the Tennessee Tea Party groups, there certainly are concrete examples of people trying to indoctrinate children but it isn't the "Socialists" it's the religious Right-wing Evangelicals. But ask these crazy ideologues which side is actually trying to indoctrinate school kids and they can completely ignore their own behaviors and conjure up some Socialist plot even while being unable to provide any examples of that Socialist plot. Makes you wonder if they went to one of those Texas schools that banned critical thinking eh?

Joe, I do not necessary disagree with you. Having been educated in the states of Texas and Tennessee, I understand the pull the conservatives have in this region. I have had good teachers and I have had bad teachers. I don't have kids so I am farther removed from the source than you, however the org I work for has an educational wing that does damn good work in arts education, so I am not completely removed. Just as the conservatives have undo political sway in this area, liberals have undo sway in others. All I'm proposing is that school be declared a politics free zone.

Really, moron joe? You know everytime you ask me questions like this it shoots a hole through you far left narrative, right?
Where did my money come from? A 20+ year career where I annually made well into 6 figures helped, as did living well below our means & wise investing. Other than a mortgage, I haven't had any debt either. But you knew all of this, why ask me to repeat it?
Education? I paid my way through college working 2 or 3 jobs at a time, as did my wife. After graduating, we married & both landed excellent jobs. I went back and earned my MBA while working fulltime.
Here's the part moron joe really can't stand: I grew up poor & did all this without financial assistance from my family, a bank, the school or the benevolent government!

    Now what?

David, your accomplishments are absolutely impossible!! How could you have done all this on your own? Don't you realize that "it takes a village"? Do you mean to tell me that free enterprise and hard work can lead to success? No way, comrade. I'm reporting you to the KGB.
