Yeah. As I recall we never saw or heard from Joe during the 2020 election.

If you have an incompetent, don’t let them speak.
We’ve all have seen these individuals speak to media. It ended Joe's presidency, and probably will end Kamala’s presidency run, if she actually speaks to the media.

What if this is the new meta now? New candidate last minute, little uncontrolled campaigning, etc.

If it works why do anything else? I would welcome "last minute" candidates because we might be able to finally get away from the never ending election cycle the U.S. has been caught in as of late.

Most countries do very short election seasons and then get on with their lives. It's my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) that the U.S. used to be like that too. If this is what it takes to get back to that, I welcome it.

Because it robs the electorate of the ability to choose who they want to run which is exactly what makes our democracy a democracy.

I more mean we should do it in an accelerated schedule. All primaries in a week, can't be more than 3 or less than 2 months before an election. That way we don't have to do literal years of soft campaigning and a full year of real campaigning

Nah. Every candidate should be primaried, at least, even if it takes a long time. Sure, it’s a fairly lengthy process, but it allows the citizens an opportunity to narrow down their selection which is their right.

I feel sorry for the Democrats who didn’t get to choose their candidate this election cycle because of the very un-Democratic process that was foisted upon them. It is best to take time to narrow down the selection and allow the democratic process to unfold.

However, the actual VOTING should be whittled down to one, single day instead of the months-long process. Would you disagree?

America has a pretty good election process (except for this cycle, of course).

Ehhhhh, I think it's gone out of control. Trump is a great example of that, he's basically been campaigning for 10 years straight and it's exhausting. Certainly not a sign of a healthy system

Plus I don't necessarily think primaries are the best way to solve these things. They're basically a popularity contest and have little to do with picking who can best lead. Most minor parties still just put up whomever they like without real primaries, and we all get a real say in the constitutionally mandated election. For example, if Democrat voters don't want Harris, they simply need not vote for her come November.

What I think we really need is a more open field with rank-choice voting to break up the 2 party system, but that's another topic.

Sorry, but as evident from the current Rah Rah Sisboombah falderall for Kamala, it takes time for heartfelt enthusiasm to give way to analytical consideration. Your idea holds absolutely no water.

So very true. Besides, if the party simply puts their choice on the ticket, the people have absolutely no say. It could quickly become a Boss Tweed/Tammany Hall-type situation and I don't think anyone wants that.
