As many of you may know there are a lot of people making wierd predictions about the year 2012. Everything from aliens invading, to the end of the world, sounds like 2000 all over again, but why 2012. Thats nothing special about that year, except that the ancient mayan calander ends, and NASA has said that Earth will be in it's closest orbit ever with Veuns...Opinions Plaeas
Howdy chick, if I were to come up with the reason for this date of 2012, the calendar would be as good of an excuse as I could think of. KInd of makes you want to go to Peru and sacrafice yourself on one of their stone alters. Don't it? (New Years day 2012 that is)
2012 - the human technology interface really heats up. Virtual worlds will exist that approach true reality. - Artificial intelligence will progress greatly and many important decisions in many fields will be left to AI (budgeting decisions in govt and industry for example). - Nanotech will present us with a great variety of new materials like superstrong plastics, stain-resistant clothes, crazy lightweight thin high insulation value building materials (this will drive down housing prices and save trees). - AI and robotics combine to create devices that perform tasks in every field (agriculture will be drastically changed by these devices and new biotinkering). - Schools will become similar to daycare facilities with children and students learning from some sort of human/technology interface. - medical miracles: Cancer vaccines will eliminate chemo; robotic prostetics controlled by patient's brain; great progress in understanding viruses; and the most important medical advance will be the recognition that our thoughts effect our health to a greater degree than previously known. - Crime and prisons will persist as ugly problems. New psychological insights will help create the possibility of true rehabilitation but these will be rejected because of "prisoner's rights" and because the prison industry will lobby against it. -Energy: Here is the big one, I hope that one of the many promising techs (hydrogen, solar, wind etc..) will free us from oil. After all you can't stop an idea whose time has come.
Um, how about that Mayan Calendar. Does it have a swim suit issue or what and if so is Jessica Alba on it?
