With Justice Breyer retiring soon, there's just one question on everyone's mind, how exactly will Rs justify blocking a supreme court nominee for 3 to 7 years? I have faith they'll think of something. Maybe they'll gracefully let this one through after the last few victories, we'll see.
I mean, I'm not particularly hopeful or even desiring 8 years of Biden, but anything can happen. We did just finish a term where we elected a reality TV businessman, so we may be living in one of the stranger timelines and have to roll with the punches.
I fully expect this nomination to sail through. There’s no reason it shouldn’t unless he gets Bork’d somehow.
Yeah, but your problem is not Biden . . . it's that the people really making these awful decisions and running this nightmarish show will still be driving the liberal bus after he's gone. They stand in the way of any Democrat having a fair shot in the next election cycle.
I would very much like off the establishment democrat's wild ride. The best shot I think the Dems have at this point is if the Rs try to run Trump again
Hey though, the conspiracy theory lover in me (maybe just cynic) thinks the Dems may put up little to no resistance to Biden's nominee being to use Breyer's retirement and apparent obstruction of nominees as motivation for the midterms.
I would love for the Dems to run against Trump again. They were grinning from ear to ear when he ran against that stupid son of a bitch Hillary in 2016. How did that work out?
What would really be interesting would be if Manchin and Sinema switch to the Republican Party. Or if they just don’t vote in favor of Biden’s black female nominee. One thing is for certain. The nominee will not be Merrill Garland unless he suddenly starts identifying as a black female.
No, she’s certainly not stupid. But, she did question the outcome of the 2016 election and even wrote a book spreading her Big Lie about it.
I'd actually prefer that Manchin and Sinema both remain Democrats. I've got to believe a couple more could break ranks in the coming few years, and that sort of dissension could really jar most registered Democrats into the realization that their party has indeed left them behind.
Despite some recent pushback, they usually fall in line. The nominee (who will be one of the worst/least qualified in the history of nominations-if some of the things Kagan/Sotomayor have said/done lately made you cringe, just wait) will be approved with at least 50 Democrats and possibly some others (Romney, Murkowski, Collins, and even Lindsey Graham, who has supported many of Biden's nominations so far).
But there is only three years left in Biden's term. How can we let him nominate anybody with so little time left in his term? We better wait until after the election to let the people decide. With any luck, that useless chair warmer Thomas will wake up from his lifelong nap and decide to retire or simply die from a lack of any brain activity over the last decade and Biden will get to nominate another SC Justice. There is little doubt that Mitch McConnell has packed the courts endlessly changing the rules of the Senate to suit his goals. Time for payback and if I had my way, Biden would add at least 3 more justices to the bench to compensate for all the Republican shenanigans. It's long past time to put the political dagger through the black heart of the corrupt GOP/Trump cabal.
Their blood is thick with hypocrisy. . Biden will only have revisionists on his list, and they are categorically unqualified. .
You mean like revisionists with regard to abortion well-established rights? Oh heavens! Imagine that. But those revisionists are acceptable because they are yours? I see.
