What do you think of beauty contest for kids?

Do you like them or not? I think that they are barbaric. Why should a 5 year old or younger be wearing fake teeth and all that makeup. We are just setting them up to be that way for the rest of their lives and I do not like it at all.

It's not about the kids it's about the parents and dare I go further the mothers in most cases.

Kids should be allowed to be kids. Playing "dress up" is one thing. Slapping on the makeup for money is another.

 

Same here in a lot of ways I find it quite frightening they are sexulizing the child at such a early age and for what?

 

I watched a show one day on it. The kids had to get up super early and you could so tell that half the time they did not even want to be there. And what is upsetting the most is that several of the parents, if their child did not win, were poor sports and took it out on the child and told them they had to do better the next time.

 

I find it disturbing and feel it is probably not the healthiest thing in the world. I think kids should be kids, not mini adults in a competition. I totally agree that it is typically for the parents (usually mom) and not for the kids.

 

Yes, kids should be allowed to be kids and not adults. There will be plenty of time for that later.
