As far as homosexuality being an "abomination", I must disagree. I think the ultimate expression of love is sex. Therefore, if two men or women who love each other want to express that love sexually, why should it be an abomination?

Besides, who am I to tell anyone they can't do what they want with whomever they want as long as both parties are of legal age and the act is consensual? I thought this was a free country and in America we supposedly live under the auspices of the "pursuit of happiness"? You know, for a bunch of coin collectors, a lot of us are blind. We see the word LIBERTY emblazoned on our coins every day. But, maybe it just doesn't sink in what that word really means. Please take a minute and think about it.

I still find it odd that people believe that places like heaven or "the lake of fire" that supposedly really await them after they die. These places are just earthly representations of the afterlife not real places. The descriptions of these places was meant to give people a frame of reference which they could relate to not a concrete place that exists in some other dimension.

 

I dont know what there is waiting when I die...I dont think anyone does...I wont know until I die, and if there is nothing...well...I guess I wont exist to know the answer If there IS a heaven or Hell...or a god...I cant believe it would want such bile, venom and hatred.

 

I agree with the whole freedom arguement and everything. But liberty is a concept that was abandoned in America a long time ago.

well, homosexuality isnt illegal...so one is free in America to practice homosexuality....some just do not wish them to wed...to me...its just a government issued contract, churches dont have to do the ceremony...I dont care if they wed...it has no effect on my own marriage. it doesnt belittle my love for my wife and the reasons I wed her...the sanctity of my marriage is not dependant on who else marries...if so...marriage wouldnt be worth 2 ****s...already people do not have to love, care for, live with, or even like the person they marry...they divorce at the drop of a hat...cheat on each other beat each other, you name it...how more cheap can one make marriage than what heteros have already done to it...I love my wife, I cherish her and respect her...I want to live my life with her...this would be true if there were no such thing as marriage...so gays want to marry? I couldnt care less...

I dont think fat, old, or ugly people should wed...lets get on that...make the world a nicer looking place to live

Well, I just think that the liberties practiced and accepted in america are only those deemed to be acceptable by society, and politicians. Examples: gay marriage (even though I don't really agree with it), doctors aren't allowed to prescribe medical marijuana to alleviate the suffering of people who are sick and dying. Freedom of speech is allowed-usually, right to bear arms is allowed-sometimes. I could go on. I'm sure what I just said will be countered by people saying that america is better that anywhere else in the world. Perhaps it is. I'm not sure though. I think much of western europe enjoys more freedom than us in america. Anyway... whatever.

 

Yeah, I agree there is still alot left to be improved upon, medical marijuana is a big one and might help me (6 back surgeries) out bigtime. Here in SD we actually had it on the ballot last November, but it was voted down. Would it help me, don't know but anything is worth a try sometimes. Until it's legal I won't use it...

 

It is actually more useful with cancer patients. I remember an older woman in an oncology ward that wouldn't take THC pills because she was so afraid of the evils of marijuana. She smoked cigarettes until the day she died though. One gives you cancer and the other relieves pain. One is legal and one is illegal. Hum? :rolling:

 

Yeah good point Moen. Bonedigger, you mention that it was on the ballot last November. The sad thing about it is that even after it passed in 6 states, like California, Arizona, Alaska, the feds still go in to those states and revoke the licenses of doctors, because its still against federal law. I think its horrible that the people of these states decide they want this very beneficial drug be used, and the government shuts them down. What ever happenned to checks and balances?? Then when the mayor of San Fran decided to start marrying gays, the feds did nothing for weeks! I personally don't care one way or another on gay marriage, but its absurd that its seems like the mayor of a big gay city is allowed to perform illegal wedding ceremonies, yet the wishes of the voters of all those states, professional caring doctors, and the AMA are ignored in the interest of the war on drugs, which is really just a big shamm.

 

Over here they are talking about having it in a spray form, bit like a inhailer :thumb: I have to say for me it would be a god send :bow:
