What do Canadians think of Conrad,Baron Black of Crossharbour?

Here's a discussion that will interest the Canadian members of the board.What do you think of Conrad,Baron Black of Crossharbour? I have heard that he has got himself
in a bit of legal trouble in both Canada & America.I admire the guy for standing up to the then Prime Minister of Canada,Jean Chretien & told him where to get off,as far as the Nickle Resolution goes.I reckon that all the Queen's subjects no matter whether they live in Great Britain,Australia,Canada or New Zealand,or any other Dominion should be allowed to accept honours from their Queen,including peerages,knighthoods,& damehoods.What do you think?

Aidan, is it true that he actually had to renounce his Canadian Citizenship in order to accept his Title from the Queen?

 

I think that it is silly that someone should not be allowed to accept a honour bestowed on them, Me I want to be a Baron

No one has yet explained to me how Knights of the Realm like Mick Jagger and Elton John are going to defend the Queeen.

Yes,that is true.

OldDan,that is true,as Canadians who are ordinarily resident in Canada are not
allowed to accept titles from their Queen (who is also my Queen).This is stated in the Nickle Resolution,which,as far as I can see,is actually illegal,as it
is not an Act of Parliament.
