I don't get it. I mean, the painting's pretty bad, sure. But it's not
    *that* bad. It's not like
    "laugh-out-loud-I've-got-to-share-this-with-my-friends" bad. So what
    gives?

He doesn't seem as normal as I'd gathered from Thompson, although, then
again, there were always his drawings to consider . . . .

My favorite's the _Vegas_ one of the lizard bar, in conjunction with the
text (up to and including the part about the elevator):

"Terrible things were happening all around us. Right next to me a huge
reptile was gnawing on a woman's neck, the carpet was a blood-soaked
sponge-- impossible to walk on, no footing at all. 'Order some golf
shoes', I whispered. 'Otherwise, we'll never get out of here alive. You
notice these lizards don't have any trouble moving around in this muck--
that's because they have claws on their feet.'

" 'Lizards?' he said. 'If you think we're in trouble now, wait until you
see what's happening in the elevators.' He took off his Brazilian
sunglasses and I could see he'd been crying."

I picked up a new copy of _The Great Shark Hunt_ about a month ago, a
solstice gift to myself, and have thoroughly refamiliarized myself with
    it.

I want to grab another copy of _The Curse of Lono_ too while I'm at it.

Because you can only keep so many empty bottles lying around. Throwing
away a piece of Steadman's art is heartbreaking, regardless of the
fact that it is mass producing in the millions and easily replaced.

Thanks for that. Oh, what? You didn't know? Oh. It's considered a
