If I put the cursor on the horizontal scroll-bar of the headers-window in
Pan here, like I just did by accident, and roll the mouse-wheel, like I
just did by accident, the headers-window scrolls sideways.

It's like that stupid filter that we're supposed to have (dunno what
happened to mine) between the brain and the mouth, you know? only the one
you need to break down here is between the brain and the fingers.

The feature comes with QT and similar libraries - and has been a
    standard for a long time.

Every once in a while I boot XP so the AV database and "security"
patches get installed (just in case I have to insure I'm strictly
compatible with MSoffice w/r/t formatting, flow, and the like). While
waiting, I do some other stuff like writing a report or dubbing around
with some drawings. It amazes me that the stuff I can do with a flick
of a mouse or the tap a few keys under Linux DON'T FRICKIN' WORK UNDER
    WINDOWS OR DO WEIRD S**T.

But then, after a reboot or two (can't just restart an app with a fresh
image from the disk like with linux), I'm done and tell the machine to
reboot so I can switch to linux. 20 minutes later, it's done installing
'updates' and shuts down the computer (why can't it just reboot like I
asked?). Power on, wait for POST, tell grub to do Linux and life is
    good again.

At least if something's borked over Linux/GTK+ you have a fighting chance
to work it out and fix it.

If someone hasn't already quit whining and worked it out and posted
about it for all humanity's benefit.

When a system is set up to accomplish some goal, a
new entity has come into being--the system itself.
No matter what the "goal" of the system, it
immediately begins to exhibit system behavior; that
is, to act according to the general laws that govern
the operation of all systems. Now the system itself
    has to be dealt with.
