I'm really wasn't surprised to get this response from someone from Minnesota. Not to belittle you but, I'm sorry, I was a Boy Scout, and even before that, I was taught to respect the flag, the pledge and the anthem. Long before 9/11 and long before knowing that it was actually set in US code that you show respect and reverence to the flag. I had a grandfather who was a POW in Germany, my father, God rest his soul, and his twin brother were soldiers in Vietnam. My grandfather was involved in both the VFW and American Legion until his death and my uncle, even though the Vietnam War may have been for less than honorable reasons, he is still to this day actively invloved in the American Legion and Memorial Day ceremonies. No matter what is going on in the current political or international realm, in my opinion, there is no excuse for showing disrespect or lack of respect for the flag and those who died to make it what it is to represent.
I just think it's funny something like that needs to be legislated with a code.. respect is for people, not inanimate objects.. Can't teach, or especially, demand respect .. IMO Leviticus 26:1 You shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the Lord your God. "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." How about... I pledge allegience to the truth of The United States of America, and to the plutocracy for which it stands, one nation under God, completely divided among economic, racial, and religious lines, without liberty and justice for all. Now I ask, which holds more truth? Saying something does not make it so...
[ame= - Self Defense Products for Women - LET FREEDOM RING![/ame] They missed Penn and Teller's theory. A 45 bullet to the head stops a rape in an instant. Just saying "I have a gun" stops even quicker. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!
I have heard this played perfectly. But its on vinyl, so I cant share that rendition with you. This lady though is pretty good. I'd be interested to hear what others thought of the piece. To me, its about despair and resignation. Enjoy: [ame= - Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata[/ame]
