I was in the Army when Reagan was elected. The change in morale was palpable in the armed services. That was when I began paying attention to politics. Now I remember the late 80’s and 90’s quite well. Rush Limbaugh had something of a sharp tongue, but all in all…. We all had the same goal. I had as many democrat friends as republican friends and we didn’t judge each other over them. Then came the turn of the century and that awful 9/11. We declared war on Iraq and began printing money to pay this national debt forward. Prices began to climb with too many dollars on the streets. We went deeper into this century and we printed more and more. Our lawmakers were addicted to our dollars. Now we have way too many dollars on the streets. Prices climb faster. At this point is where I see the division. And those at the top fed that division because it took our eyes off their spending. It is far easier to blame your mistakes on someone else. Every drug addict does this. They wouldn’t take drugs if the wife were nicer…. Or whatever…. We run this nation. We are nearing civil war because it suits those at the top! They just need to spend more of your dollars without you noticing. What’s another trillion among friends? More appropriately, what is another trillion among enemies. And if they can keep neighbors warring among themselves over silly damned political divisions….. They win and we lose. Every bit of this mess from racial tension, gender tension, cost of living tension…. Every bit of it is crafted and designed to keep our eyes off the ball. Their spending! Period. That is the fastball that will strike each and every one of us out if we continue this course.
