    Is this story another one you made up? Or is this one true? It's hard to tell with you anymore.

    OK. Thanks for clarifying. You've stated previously that a story you recounted was a lie so I was just making sure this one wasn't also a lie.

    It's a consensus of opinion, which makes it a fact: republicans very suck, indeed.

    I'm curious. Does anyone actually believe states like Texas have not had voting rights issues for the past 150 years or so? Really? I'm not a proponent either way as I could care less. My state isn't a redneck, hillbilly, racist, bigoted state of inbred sloths like some other states I'll go without naming, so it doesn't effect me personally. But come on...really?

    I would say that in the last 150 years most, if not all, states have had voting rights issues.

    150 years ago, so did EVERY state in the union (by present day standards);
    I guess that means you believe that EVERY state ought to fall under the now unconstitutional VRA. Think about that the next time we have a Republican AG and he believes all Californians out to vote in Cedarville.

    I guess only time will tell on this one. I would hope by now all states could have the same voting laws and all would be fine. But, I still see a many places are still a bit behind the times in such things as equal rights. True, we shouldn't have different rules in different places, but until it's equal in all those places, I don't see it being in the best interest to anyone at the polls. Maybe I'm wrong and everyone is living harmoniously together. If so, I need some of whatever they're taking so I can see it too.

    Voting rights issues? I'll name one incident in one particular state: Pennsylvania (a northern state, btw). 2008. New Black Panthers. King Samir Shabazz. Yep, racist, bigoted, etc.

    What's funny to me is that these poor states that brought this on themselves are now saying. "See, we don't have those issues anymore" while completely ignoring that fact that it is only the voting rights act that keeps them as close to honest as they are now. I've never lived in a state where the Federal Government had to watch over the local officials because they couldn't hold an honest election. In other words, I've never lived in the south. I think that what this will eventually lead to is maybe a few more elections for the Republicans in certain areas but it will also lead to a backlash for their party amongst minority voters that will last generations. Small victory now, big suck later.

    Anyway, another true story, I leave for the Great Northwoods tomorrow to do some back country canoeing and camping. If I don't end up as bear food, I'll see ya when I return. :eek: I just hope that it isn't a Canadian bear eh.

    OKC I'm not saying there aren't issues in every state. I'm saying some have far more than others. And to be fair, some of the worst aren't southern states.

    Yep! I agree. All that the SCOTUS said was that right now all states get to have those "problems" handled in the same manner every other state has them handled and in the same manner just about every other violation is handled in the USA - after it has been determined that there really is a problem. In other words, since SCOTUS has determined that voter IDs are constitutional, now every state can have them instead of just those who have NOT fallen into those states singled out by the VRA. Doesn't that make sense to allow all 50 states to have the same rules?

    Logically they should have the same rules. Those exceptions were put into place many years ago when some states weren't following the rules. Hopefully it was a good move.

    ...and to see a doctor...and to cash a check...and to get into the democrat convention...and to write a check...and to tour the White House...and to register to vote in the first place!!
    Actually, requiring an ID may be a public service...how can someone function in this world without one?

    republicans want to stress state-rights versus people-rights because they have already rigged many of state's elections in their favor. By focusing on victories for states, they can continue to enact laws non-republicans do not want, such as the requirement for photo-IDs, welfare for corporations, marriage defined as between a man and a woman, etc.

    They control many states and want to keep that power. It's about control, no matter if they achieve it through slimy practices or not. republicans are absolutely comfortable being slime-balls.

    What's the parrot (and his co-parrots) gonna do without Fog-of-War here to guide them along the far left's narrative-of-the-day?
