No one has any comments? I would have thought Teddy would have gone through the roof. Now those sates can actually implement voter ID like the rest of the nation. Oh. and they can move their voting booths without Holder's approval. OMG! That sounds like they are really states again.
So are you both happy that the states with the longest history of voting rights abuses are once again free to abuse the voting rights of minority voters? Being white southerners, I bet you're dancin' around the old lynchin' tree in pointy white hats and robes tonight burnin' them crosses with joy once again. Yee-Haw!!! Your "culture" is an embarrassment to this country.
Your twist of the facts is very interesting. I have no idea how they could preemptively prohibit selected states from enacting their own laws just like the rest of the nation. And, just like the rest of the nation, if they make a law they should not, anyone/everyone has the right to challenge it. Now, in stead of Holder imposing his decidedly biased rulings, all 50 states will have the same laws. WOW!! Wonder of wonders. They are equal. BTW, if you want to preemptively punish states for past (present?) voting rights violations, how about prohibiting any further burials in the state of Illinois?
You seem to be completely unaware of the history of your part of the country. I guess as awful as it was, you simply prefer to ignore what you don't want to acknowledge. Simply put, the reason the voting rights act was put into place was because of the rampant and very, very well documented voter discrimination practices of the southern states.
Yeah, and my ancestors paid taxes to King George III, but that does not mean I should be deported? Or; http://newsone.com/935435/chicago-voting-problems-mayoral-elections/ Maybe people in glass houses should not be throwing stones.
The voting rights act was from 1965. You were what, maybe 15 years old? There is a very good chance that you accompanied your parents to the local polling place to prevent southern blacks from voting. We hardly have to look back as far as the 1760's to find an equivalent comparison. We have your family outings as examples.
The court has handed the Republicans a long piece of rope. And Republicans being what they are, are not going to be able to resist going out and using it to try to lynch people that they think might be inclined to vote for the wrong side. I mean they're salivating over the thought right now. Go for it, guys. Let's see how well voter suppression works out for you. To paraphrase a late Japanese emperor, I think that the voting rights situation is going to develop not necessarily to your advantage.
Maybe you should study your history more (or learn not to make uneducated assumptions, but I doubt that is possible for you). My history starts north of your location and then moved north. There were no "southern blacks" (whatever they are) in my home town. I was 200 mile north of "the south". However, in 1965, a black who happened to be from below the MD line became my fraternity brother. Too bad you could not be as educated as he. And it goes without mention who was the more pleasant. Were those frat boys you watched rape a girl black? Is that the logic you use to justify your crime? Apparently you are excluding the Chicago dead because that was 1960. Apparently that limits your time to between 1960 and 1965 when historic voting problems disappear. Had you read the article I posted, it referenced problems in Chicago in the 1980's. How are you discounting them? Or better yet, the first line indicates a problem in 2010. You have at least 55 years to go before they get discounted. Tsk! TSk!
Fog-of-War moen (and his ilk) are the most dangerous sort of racists...they think minorities should be relegated to their big city ghettos where they can be watched & cared for. In turn, they expect the minorities to vote the way they're told to vote and how dare they not appreciate everything that's being provided.
I still have enough faith, in my fellow citizens, to believe they are capable enough & smart enough can get an ID (if they want an ID). Heck, I'll bet even iqless has an ID. With everything requiring an ID these days, how could someone possibly function without one? There are only 2 possible reason someone would try to vote without ID (or take exception to same)...they are attempting to cast a fraudulent vote or they are trying to make a big deal out of it.
... and that's the way it's been for a long time with liberal, elitist racists. They only act as if they care about "minorities" when it suits their agenda. Otherwise, they don't want them in their gated communities, country clubs or shopping malls. And they certainly don't want them marrying their children. If I have the displeasure of encountering a racist, I would prefer him to be open about his racism and not be a devious racist like so many liberals are.
Yes, let's make people get ID's to vote in order to prevent voter fraud that doesn't reasonably exist already. Study after study has demonstrated that requiring ID's knocks 100's of thousands of people out of the voting booth and disproportionally prevents the elderly, the poor, minorities, and other groups from being able to exercising their right to vote all to prevent voter fraud that is almost completely non-existent. Republicans have never ever been interested in either increasing voter turnout or preventing voter fraud. They have clearly vocalized their desire to win elections by suppressing voter turnout of the people that wouldn't likely vote for them anyway. If you can commit voter fraud anyway, why would it be any more difficult to commit ID fraud? What, are poll workers going to be able to pick out fake ID's? I seriously doubt that if someone wanted to vote illegally, creating a fake ID wouldn't be a big problem.
And Chicago has proven it. Just ask the man with no finger or thumbs and still managed to sign his ballot application - TWICE!
Typical republican responses to republican acts of rigging elections. If Democrats had done the same things that republicans have done, republicans would be screaming for justice right now. But, since it's themselves rigging elections in their favor, they believe it's fine. It's not. It's rigging elections, idiots. If the Democrats tried to rig elections, I'd be pointing it out just like I am here, and republicans would agree with me that it is unjust. That's one reason why republicans suck. They are the worst examples of humanity in America today (given their political and religious policies). They are the best examples of what it means to be hypocrites. I could have just said "republicans suck", and left it at that, but sometimes the little babies need a spanking. ...because republicans suck.
A friend of mine works for Asian Foods. One day an elderly Asian restaurant owner with very minimal English language skills called to complain about one of Asian Foods delivery drivers. All he could articulate in his broken English was that the driver was "Very Suck". I think Republicans are "Very Suck" too.
