Yeah, it appears our current Prez is doing a good job of leading the US into a Cuba-like direction.

Corporations have already taken control of this country in every meaningful way. The difference between Democratic and Republican voters is that Democratic voters realize that we are handing over this country bit by bit to the wealthy aristocrats and corporate elitists while Republican voters are helping them do it. Republicans realize that their numbers are dwindling and have begun to disenfranchise as many poor people, minorities, and elderly as they can by passing restrictive voting measures to try and win enough elections to stack the judicial system so that they can legislate from the bench rather than actually win elections.

Spoken like a true professional liberal who won't "listen to anyone on the Right" and whose logic only follows "If you disregard the hypercritical Right wing".

BTW, what happened to your promise to leave this thread - "so I am done here"?

So I should listen to the very people allowing themselves to be used as Right wing tools? The people that are so clueless that they are selling out their own best interests and ours because they are too lazy to look beyond talking points. They align themselves with ideologues that are incapable of seeing beyond Jesus, guns, and greed. When someone on the Right actually says something worth listening to, I’ll start listening to the Right. Until then, I'll just be content to point out all of your hypocrisy.

You mean like a 100% increase in 10 years does not average 10% per year? You mean like we cannot continue to spend $1.7T more than we take in? You mean like we ought to follow the constitution? I guess you would rather listen to your ex-governor try to sell a senate seat and BO promise that the health care bill process would be televised on c span.

    Comparing Obama to Fidel...................?

Sorry, but where in my post was I comparing Obama to Fidel................

I was comparing Cuba of the late 1950's to modern day America.

Obama's recent trip to New York, where he entertained Wall Street Bankers at a $35,800 per-plate dinner, prooves he also can be bought if you have enough money.

A president with some integrity would have a choosen a soup kitchen over this.

As for Cuba, you will not find a homeless there, everyone has a home and food to survive. You will also find free healthcare and education as well as the happiest people on earth. I been there, and have seen it.

As for Fidel, he is making due with what he has to work with and living within his means without the help of someone like Ben Bernanke printing off Federal Reserve Notes to keep everyone happy. And no, the U.S. dollar is no longer the main currency of Cuba, they have their own.

A man that refuses to cash American rent cheques for Guantanamo Bay shows he has at least some integrity, even though the money is needed.

I am not running down you or anyone else, I am simply pointing out what the rest of the world already knows. Politicians in my country and any other country, can be bought and influenced as well but not to the degree as I see it in the U.S.

Pardon me but is your name David?

So the model the world should follow is Cuba's "enough food to survive"? Is that it?
If you have been to Cuba you would realize the country is in shambles. No infrastructure, universal poverty, dirty & archaic hospitals. Good gosh, the most celebrated profession in Cuba is the auto mechanic who can create '57 Chevy parts out of garbage. Not exactly the shangri-la you seem to believe it is.

This is the David I was talking to

"You will not find a homeless there, everyone has a home and food to survive. You will also find free healthcare and education as well as the happiest people on earth. I been there, and have seen it." Really? I guess that is why there are more Cuban's in the USA than in Cube. They came here to escape the free health care, great food, free education, and all that happiness. It must have been just too much for them.

Yes, Castro returned Cuba back to the people, but only his people. The majority of the other people got raped - some literally and a lot figuratively.

    Typical view of Cuba

Just wondering if you knew Cuba provides more medical personnel to the developing world than all the G8 countries combined. So, not everyone has a profession of working on '57 chevys.

And the dirty & archaic hospitals you mentioned, I doubt you have ever been in one.

As for the lack of infrastructure, have you been to Detroit lately?

I do agree about the universal poverty, but in a country where everyone is treated the equal, this is how it goes. If all developed contries had to pay off their part of the debt, I assume we would also see the same kind of poverty.

By the way, your portion of the debt is between $40,000.00 and $50,000.00 and growing daily. So in reality, a Cuban is in by far better off financially, than any American, Canadian or citizen of the European Union.

It's probley accurate to also say that not one Cuban house is financially under water.

All very good points Rush! Ask Greece how they are liking the capitalist model these days. LOL!

Shows you what you know which is as usual very little. I worked with a Cuban woman and I know the history of the Cuban immigration wave. The woman I worked with said that her family owned a couple of big houses and one night armed men showed up and took their homes and everything else they had and told them to leave. Sounds awful doesn't it? The part that you don't know is that her family was part of the Cuban mafia.
Castro took all of the organized crime families and the entire prison population and sent them to the US. That is why Florida is dominated by the Cuban mafia families these days. He took his bad apples and sent them to our shores. The reason many people try to escape Cuba is to join their family members in the organized crime business here in the states. Did you ever notice that we ship them back to Cuba as soon as we catch them? But the US government spins the story of the people that leave Cuba as the fault of the Cuban government and not what it really is. You can make a lot of money in organized crime in this country selling drugs if you can just get here.

If you so love the Cuban system and you obviously so hate the American system, why don't you move down there. With your PHD, you might be able to double their knowledge base and it would certainly help our future.

Heck, I can't even make a dent in your knowledge base. What good would I be to people with actual educations behind them?

Wrong, it is second-hand anecdotal evidence AND US history. The anecdotal story only backs up the account of documented history. So sad when you can't run with the big dogs.
