Everytime I see and listen to Ron Paul I always ask myself, why this man can't get elected? He is well spoken and seems to address the problems of the U.S. with clear answers. I know he does not have his own reality show or has his own line of designer mattresses but give the guy a break. You would think being Canadian I wouldn't care, but I really feel sorry for this man. And for a guy like Newt Gingrich to even be considered for president really shows how far out of touch you Americans really are.
Libertarianism sounds great on paper. However, in practice it is nothing more than laissez-faire Capitalism.
I think laissez-faire capitalism would be better than what we have now, which is laissez-unfair capitalism.
The fact that BO is in there shows how out of touch Americans really are! If average Americans have any say left in it anyway. I'm glad that an outsider sees this as well. I agree with you. Ron Paul should be at the forefront. Instead, they're already propping up our "new McCain", Mitt for brains Romney, before people have even started paying attention. He's supposed to be a front runner, for reasons unknown. I guess if a republican is allowed to win, they can never again be a real conservative. They won't allow them in the race anymore. Oh yeah, almost forgot the primary reason Paul won't be allowed in. He actually wants the government to take back it's original responsibility of being in control of the nations money supply. He's the only one who sees the federal reserve as a real problem and wants to abolish them. Notice that every other candidate pretends like the federal reserve doesn't even exist. That's reason #1 why Paul doesn't have a chance. He's the only one willing to deal with (or even talk about) reality.
That is kind of like saying that Liberalism, in practice, is nothing more than socialism. Libertarianism is really simply the polar opposite of Totalitarianism on the political axis. And along that spectrum, you have left leaning ideas on it and right leaning ideas on it. And, of course, there is a social aspect as well as the economic aspect. Now, Ron Paul is certainly in the right wing area of Libertarianism with regards to economics but he is also quite socially Libertarian. The 'Tea Party' is also very right wing on the economic axis, although I would tend to also believe they are often not that far up the actual Libertarian ladder because of their stance on many social issues relating to individual liberties (gay marriage would be the easiest example). I believe a lot more of them think they are Libertarian than actually are Libertarian. I am no expert on Libertarianism...although I have read a bit on it and I tend to be quite Libertarian on social issues and the state. But I do know it is not quite as simple as laissez-faire Capitalism anymore than Liberalism is simply socialism.
There is such a thing as Libertarian Socialism. But I think his was probably based on some ambush questioning of Ron Paul.
tom is apparently from the far left wing of the Libertarian party. You know the one, it contains members who think gov't should call the shots for them and provide a living for them.
My comments about Ron Paul are based on what I see and hear.I don't know if he is a Democrat or Republican and I really don't care. I do know I would trust him like a father. Although I live in Canada, I do receive CNN on our local cable service and have seen all the candidates and I know who I would vote for him if given the chance. Owning a few casinos or having your own reality T.V show does not mean you will make a good president. As for the Fox News comment I have no idea what your talking about. I have never watched a Fox news broadcast. I assume from your comments that Fox news and Ron Paul are somehow linked. The folks at CNN have never said anything bad about him.
He is a Republican Congressman from Texas. I am surprised the 'folks' at CNN never mentioned that. But maybe i have the wrong CNN. Maybe it is the Canadian News Network? I have never watched a Canadian news broadcast.
CNN Atlanta I get the CNN from Atlanta. The one with Brook Baldwin and Carol Costello. Our national news, paid for by taxpayers, is the CBC. They did not say Ron Paul was a Republican, I assume, because it is common knowledge among Americans. He was giving a speech somewhere being aired live but the news cast cut him short. He mentioned that the public deserves to know who is spending or stealing your money. Makes sense to me.............................
You can watch plenty of coverage from Ron Paul on youtube if you're interested. To me it's unbelievable that people go out of their way to try to find something negative about the guy and trash him. I honestly can't imagine what more these people could expect from a good candidate. It's the same people that would vote for Obama. It's the same people that won't be satisfied until this place is run by a dictatorship that tells them when they can go to bed and what they're allowed to eat. As long as we have a phony election every 4 years to vote for a candidate that nobody really wants, they're satisfied that it's still a free country.
Federal Reserve and the printing presses. I find it appalling that the Federal Reserve and a few others can bilk the U.S. taxpayers out of billions of dollars and not have to answer to no one. This would not be accepted in most other countries. The man in charge appears out of touch with reality. When he's questioned he beets around the bush and never gives a clear answer. Having control over the printing presses is the ultimate fraud.

No intention to bash Ron Paul here but what kind of father. Ward Cleaver or Al Bundy? Lwt's simplify this Vess shall we? It's ANY politician he runs against. It's called politics unfortunately.
Ron Paul If Americans don't want Ron Paul for president at least put him in charge of your finances. The theft of your taxdollars would end in a hurry. I heard more good stuff from him in 5 minutes than I have heard from the man in charge of the Federal Reserve since I been following American politics.
