What are you doing on vacation this year? We are just going a way for a few days with my family. All of my sisters and their families will go. We will go to an amusement park.
Not 100% sure a lot depends on how much time Nikki can get off work We would like to do a trip to greece for a week or so Will also be visiting the Xmas markets on the continent again this year (undecided as to which one though LOL) and hopefuly a trip back to Brazil
Boundary Waters Canoe Area! 1 Million acres of lakes and forests untouched by motorboats, cars, or anyone unwilling to do portages located on the border of Minnesota and Canada. I can't wait. You can drink from the lakes, eat blueberries all day, and catch walleyes the size of small dogs. Here Fido, I need some bait. LOL!
Does not apply lol... Lately I guess I could say I'd like to visit Norway or Finland... instead I've settled on getting family members to come to reunions this year.
I'll be "across the pond" as De Orc would say... the pond being Lake Superior lol ...at a place called Agate Beach. Had a dog named Fido wayyy back...
I have a cousin who lives in Alaska, his mom and sister are heading up there to visit him in July as well.
Meanwhile I'll be in YOUR neck of the woods. Headed to the UP (Upper Peninsula) of Michigan. I never get tired of it. Walleye, perch and smallmouth. Lots of hiking as my wife and I like to seek out the local waterfalls. We stay in a small cabin located on a lake that is about a mile from Lake Superior. Plan to explore the Huron mountains this trip. A big fire every night and I'll do my share of 12 ounce curls.
When I was a kid I caught a pretty big Walleye (10 lbs of meat filets) and asked my older brother if it was considered big... he mumbled something and walked off to fish somewhere else... (laughs) Same thing with a Northern Pike, I was on a small boat and had pulled one near the boat (almost within reach) when the line snapped... had to be around 40 to 45" ... I said something like "Oh well' and my brother-in-law started yelling at me... lol ...there are also huge Sturgeons in the waters around here... when our lift-bridge was built (back in the 50s) divers were getting freaked out by all the "logs" that were swimming near them. (laughs) Oddest Yellow-Perch catch: I used a stick I grabbed on a trail on my way to the canal, and tied some fishing line to it with a hook and dug-up worm. Cast it off an old cement dock. It was in the water for a few seconds when I decided to recast it at another spot and was pulling it back up when I got a huge hit. Pulled a jumbo Perch out of the water... with my hook in its anus! (laughs) I must have pulled just as it was swimming over to look at it... oddest damn thing I've ever seen lol My brother (being a prankster) said it was probably an illegal catch and that I might get in trouble... my brother never was a good liar... (laughs) I'm sure you'll have fun on your trip, but make sure to bring some bear-repellant... they get pretty big out in the Hurons... (laughs)
Who needs repellant we have a Lhasa Apso. Fierce little dogs! Seriously though been going to the UP for many years. I've seen bear and wolves. Last wolf was near you in L'ance. Walleye and perch I keep. Smallmouth for fun and may chase a northern or two this yeas for fun. If I'm not mistaken the state record perch was pulled from the lake I'll be fishing in. Lake Independence. No mention of "butt hook". LOL
In my opinion, Las Vegas is second only to NYC with regards to gourmet restaurants in the US. Joel Robuchon in the MGM Grand is as good a restaurant as you will find in the entire world. I can go to NYC whenever I want. In Vegas, I can get a tan, satisfy my culinary appetite, and even squeeze in a little poker, all while enjoying the luxury of a 4 star hotel. And I can do it for half the price of NYC.
Took the girls to NYC for spring break, heading to Hawaii for a couple of weeks in July. We also go to the Caribbean a few times a year to dive. This year my wife & I plan to go to New Orleans for our anniversary. My favorite spot though is a little piece of land we own in KY. 55 acres in the middle of nowhere...no neighbors, no noise, no cell phone reception. We retreat there as often as we can!
We just got back from South Carolina where we went to watch my oldest graduate basic training. That will be the 'vacation' for this year. Although I am sure we will take weekend trips here and there unless gas is too high. Then we will just do things in the local area.
