And, where are our troops? Protecting our borders? No, of course not. We have more troops in Germany than we have on our own borders. And why? Damned if I know. Why waste resources on Afghanistan when we can't protect our own borders? I don't know that either. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...rity-says-border-patrol-agent-killed/1607957/
Now for the callous point of view: That's what you get when the country declares War on Mexicans, other North Americans, Central Americans, South Americans and drugs. Obviously, I believe that declaration, of War, along with the hatred for people south of the border (amped-up in the 30s or so by an evil man), is the root cause of almost all of our trouble on that border. That said, I understand the idiotic view most have of the Southern border. Every time I try to sneak into Canada the Mounties there say "Hey, like there's no way, eh? So go home, you hoser!", but I still make the attempt. I'm just looking for work and a better life, eh?
Why aren't we protecting our borders? That's a question I've been wondering about for many years and several administrations.
I know Pete is probably pretty pissed with me (for my callous opinion), but I may have been wrong ...in agreeing with him that this was a shooting by druggies. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-19854340 All the facts are not in, of course, but the investigation has changed focus. With apologies to Pete, for being me. THAT ought ta confuse the hell out of people.
Because liberals fight for open borders & the liberals are in charge? Because anyone who calls for border protection is labeled racist or extreme? Beacuse BO & Eric Holder have pumped so many guns into the "situation" through Fast & Furious that it's even more dangerous than before? I guess the liberals would ask: Protect the borders from what?
As usual, you jumped to conclusions without facts. This story may take many twists and turns before the truth is known. Here's just a word of friendly advice: Try to obtain the most facts you possibly can before rendering an opinion. Doing so makes you look less like a fool.
Is this a joke? After you suggested "asking our leaders" why we don't have troops on our borders. If initial reports are correct, we have so many guys with guns already that they have started shooting each other. Some friendly advice: Don't lecture others, you suck at it.
We are obviously approaching this problem the wrong way. Based upon the number of refugees leaving Mexico and this kind violence, Mexico is obviously a failed nation state that is making its citizens suffer horribly and needlessly. We should immediately invade them, topple the current regime, build some bases and set up a new and improved government so their people are better off. We are pretty good at that, you know. It is kind of our specialty.
Ask the Republicans in the South while you're at it, maybe then you'll understand why neither party truly wants the border closed.
You are so horribly predictable that it scares me at times David. It's always the "liberals" and President Obama. Of course you "conveniently" forgot to quote my whole post, short as it was, because there are variables where you just can't lay the blame on the usual targets. Here's the rest for folks with or without ODS to read. So tell me folks. Did this problem just really crank up when President Obama took office or has it been brewing for a long time? Now is the problem getting worse? I'd say yes. Has it been getting worse for some time? Again, I'd say yes. If you put all two of the sentences I originally posted here you'll see the first sentence referring to the OP and the second a statement of my opinion. StuJoe read both of them (I presume) and liked the post. Thanks Stu. Stu thinks before he posts. I don't always agree with him but I respect him. As for David...did I mention I respect StuJoe?
The Sarcameter is at warp factor 9! I'm giving her all she's got Cap'n! But to dispense with the sarcasm, I completely agree that the problems our country faces with our borders (and immigration), like most all of our problems, didn't start 4 years ago. And I don't know the answer to the problem. I do hope the only solution is not to just arm our borders to the teeth. But sometimes I wonder. I think being a nation that takes in anyone who can make it to our shores or borders made a whole lot more sense when our population was 95 million (1912) and our economy was booming than it does to me when our population is 311 million and our economy is circling the drain (2012).
I'm waiting for a sensible people to invade our country and make things right. Are you hearing this Canada? Eh? (Spanish speaking people, see: "Que?")
Now there's a country that could use a few more people. What are there...like...700 people living up there?
Ok o you have a employment crisis, well then hire the unemployed to build a wall (sort of like the Berlin version) right along both your border with Mexico and with Canada. This would create jobs, create disposable income and help cut down on illigals
