The thread about polygamy started by Andy has attracted a lot of posts. Does anyone think that the U.S should do anything to stop this abomination.

    Answer: one.
Question: How many psychics does it take to change a light bulb.

Not me. I don't care. Short of going full nukes on the whole region you can't stop it. Don't even think of firing off a "what if it was your daughter?" because it's not.

    Outrageous!

You don't care? Where is your humanity, lady? It might not be your daughter
but it is still some relation to you. We all have the same ancestors(Adam and Eve), so we are all related. So in a way, it is. You seem to be some kind of humanist(humanists don't care about other humans, by the way) nazi. People like you really get on my nerves.:(

I dunno. In my world, only God has the right to judge whether the actions of another are worthy of destroying them. Which makes it ironic that our leadership praises God whilst taking His prerogatives for themselves. Sure, the practice is morally wrong in my opinion. I just don't feel qualified to be judge, jury and executioner, nor do I understand how any imperfect human being could believe that they had the right to be so.

"We all have the same ancestors(Adam and Eve)"

So Adam did his daughters and Eve her sons?

The gene pool was much purer back then, so it would not be unthinkable for the sons to marry the daughters. You, however, were obviously not looking
for an answer, but just an excuse to mock the Bible. It the words of Jed Clampett(anybody remember him) "Pitiful, just pitiful.".

first its not the local or federal governments place or job to contorl this.federal is here to protect us from threats abroad and local is to protect us internally.something like this should only be controlled by the comunity that it takes place in.
its funny to see alot of anitsocialist people against any type of government control but cant wait to have the government come in and make rules against things that they are against.

2nd are you a genetisist or an archaeologist. because other wise your last thread is just you tring to rationalize the parts of your belief that has shown thin..

3rd anyone that quotes jed clampit as some kind of scholar is well "pitiful"

4th i think supa dave has it right. if you really are a christian than how will other peoples actions threaten your after life unless you partake in them yourself.

    5th dont start. :D

In the Bible, God told the Israelites to stone people who were perverted. They were imperfect just like you. I rest my case.

Distance between Columbus, Ohio, United States and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as the crow flies: 6944 miles (11176 km) (6035 nautical miles)

Not much I can do even if my Civic could float.

PS - we need a better selection of emoticons. Something like a shrug would do nicely.

When you say "this abomination," do you mean polygamy in general, or specific outrageous instances of it, like some guy marrying little girls?

Not a shrug of the shoulders, but will this work for you?[IMG]

First off, doesn't the US have enough to deal with here at home...before starting another holy war?

Second...Have you actually read the Bible, or just looked through it for quotes to support your politics?

Hmmm....lets see...David was a polygamist (oh and don't forget he murdered a close friend in the process of becoming one). Moses was a polygamist (and murderer). Solomon well....he was a polygamist extreme. Abraham was a polygamist. Shall I go on?

Oh and don't forget Isrealites are not forbidden to marry cousins....after genetics testing, which is only a modern provision).

So, beliefs put aside, know a book before you decide to use out of context quotes to make poorly thought out half-cocked statesments. Christiandom doesn't need it, and neither do any of the rest of us.

Now, am I appauled by the practice of marrying off of 9 year olds....sure. Am I willing to start a war over it? No.

Suggestion, why don't you go over there and do something about it yourself CraigG and let us know how it goes?

Where is Andy I am sure he can find a way to blame it on the Muslims ;)

If Israel had the practice of marrying off 9 year old girls we would hear about it nightly on the news, the leftists would make speeches, the feminist groups would demonstrate and the outrage would be deafening.

Israel of course does not but it seems that all of the horrors of the islamic world are masked over with a blanket lie of "it is a religion of love". Why is this so. Does anyone else see a connection?

And for anyone quoting the bible correctly or incorrectly, we are talking about today, the now.

Nine year old girls are being raped today and an Iman is taking money for it, with his permission, and it is a common practice.

You remind me of the history books descriptions of the people who failed to realize the threat of Hitler even as they were marched into the camps.

I do not mean this as an insult, just an observation of your posts and what is going on in the world today. I really think that you are a good person and like those good people who marched in the camps, you do not realize the evil that does exisit on this earth.

Before I get attacked, I also know that the French Underground was not French but Jewish.
I know of the Jewish Warsaw uprising against the german army and of the concentration battles that took place against the germans.

I am speaking of those who thought that everything would work out.
