My wife and I were having a discussion this evening and she was telling me that Canadian physicians and research were mere steps away from discovering both a cure for cancer and HIV. I kind of said yeah-yeah, if it can't be done in the U.S. with all our medical resources, i'm sure it can't be done in Canada. She brought up a point that the more I think of it, the more "Twilight Zone" it sounds. U.S. Pharmaceutical companies actively avoid researching "cures" primarily because of the profit to be made in continuing the suffering. Do you believe that pharmaceutical companies would put their own welfare ahead of the welfare of this nation? In my case it's Diabetes, if it was true that Diabetes technically could have been cured decades ago, but the insulin and diabetic supplies manufacturers have prevented this.. i.e. cancer.. i.e. HIV. Maybe this is not true, but if it is... I'd be quite upset... What do you think?
What would curing cancer do to the economy of the world? Just how many jobs would be lost around the world if just this one desease was cured. It really makes you think and wonder if a cure is just being "held back" because of the money factor.
Well sadly I'm agreeing with everyone.. I guess I'd have one additional question. What would you think would be the U.S. response if say, the Canadians, or the Swedes, or any of a host of other socialist type governments that don't support profit for medicine, would be if they announced tommorrow that they have cured one of these major diseases? I would think the U.S. would be very shamed. To me it would be the equivalent of the Russians being the first to the moon. <shrug>
Speaking of Russians, They were doing Radial Keratotamy in the 70s, but opticians here fought it for 30 years, (similar to Lasix eye surgery)
Well I would have to disagree that the United States is not at the forefront of medicine but I would have to agree with the statements stating that there is more money to be made with prolonging an illness then finding a cure. There were also a ton of medical problems that have occurred from the world medical industry. Mercury in vaccination shots jumps to my mind but does anyone else also remember the flipper babies never mind the addictions to painkillers, etc......
Addiction to painkillers LOL not according to my EX DR 9Emphasis on the EX) according to that fruit loop Co-Codamol were perfectly safe hya: :rolling: and of course I believed her slowly backing out of her surgery LOL De Orc
I am a fan of alternative medicine in alot of areas. There is some real research and testing done in this field by real United States and German doctors.
I posted a link to an article on how many of our top med researchers are leaving to Asia mostly because of the stem cell issue. Singapore is putting in an amazing effort to build a biotech community. Singapore will be the world leader in this (by far).
Stem Cell Research is being done in this nation. We just are not killing babies to do it. But they like to do thinks cheap in China. Funny we used to say that life is cheap in other places yet look at how many babies we kill here for someone didn't want their lifestyle cramped. After all there are more dance clubs to hit and more people to sleep with and who needs birth control when there is the government clinic that would do it for free.
Andy, I am no fan of abortion. Just stating the facts. We could go further with stem cells form the cord (I think, but this is not my expertise). There are ethical things we could do but are not doing, but again med ethics is a field unto itself.
I am not a man who follows any church but I think that abortion is a sin and a crime against humanity as well as think that it is foolish that more money is not being poured into cord stem cell research. Alot is but nothing like the money that follows the abortion blood trail.
