Some of these UAW guys are tougher than they think.

Union officials continued to receive a barrage of threats on Friday evening and into Saturday punctuated by warnings that if organizers were sent to counter-demonstrate at health care town halls they would be met with violence.

An official with the AFL-CIO, a federation of labor organizations, passed on what he described as a "pretty direct threat" to those union hands who were showing up to balance out anti-Obama demonstrations being waged at local Democratic forums.

"I will be going to a local town hall this weekend, all you union members BEWARE!" an emailer wrote at 9:40 Saturday morning. "We will be waiting for you. better make sure you have arrangements with your local ER. today is the day when the goon meets the gun. see you there."

The email was first sent to the media-watching organization Newshounds before being passed to Eddie Vale, a spokesman for the AFL-CIO. The IP address used to post the email was traced back to Georgia.

The AFL-CIO isn't the only labor organization to be on the receiving end of threats of violence. During a day in which a woman called up its national office threatening to use her Second Amendment rights should her First Amendment rights be repressed, officials at the Service Employees International Union continued to be deluged with emails and phone calls with ominous undertones.

An official with the SEIU said she had received 50 such emails, including the following one, which was edited to make suitable for publication.

You socialist f---s have the nerve to say stop the violence at the town hall meetings when they weren't violent until you p---ies showed up because your n----- leader obama said to?????? When we have ours in Racine, Wi, I want you there. I want one of your little b----- to put his hands on this Marine. I want one of you to look or talk to me wrong. I'll be the last thing your ignorant faux body guards will remember for a very long time. You can f---ing guarantee that.

The escalating language and threats have caused union officials to grow increasingly worried about the possibility of serious violence at these town hall gatherings. On Thursday, a scuffle broke out outside a town hall in St. Louis, resulting in the arrest of an SEIU official and the injury of several participants. That same evening a near riot erupted in Tampa Bay after union hands tried to prevent an overflowing crowd from storming a town hall gathering.

Lawmakers, too, are feeling the heat to keep these forums civil. A reader initialed B.W. wrote the Huffington Post that during a town hall in Plymouth, Indiana, Rep. Joe Donnelly, (D-Ind.) was forced to try out alternative measures to keep the interruptions and demonstrations at a minimum.

"Instead of addressing the crowd and taking questions, his staff had every one fill out a card with a number and he met with people face to face," the reader wrote. "There were more people than time but at least 32 people spoke directly to him out of earshot of the rest of the crowd. The event had people with differing views on health care but remained very respectful. It was encouraging."

Hmmmm....the Obama supporters & labor unions have to form armies to combat the citizens who oppose Obama's attempt to socialize our healthcare?
Is the fog starting to lift, danr?

David exactly what planet do you live on? here you have proplr making threats of violence and do you comdem it no of course you dont you accuse those who have been threatend of forming armies!! You honestly are unreal, would your response have been the same if it had been union/Obama supporters making the threats? I doubt it very much. If you can not support the rule of law David then you can not call yourself a citizen.

    vess1 "Birds of a feather...."

Yeah, David, it certainly appears that way. Which is why so many people are getting more concerned.

The anti-war demonstrators got a little loud and rowdy during the past few years, but nothing like this. Bush addressed them in a civil way and never felt the need to call out thugs to help quell the protests.

You see, Obama's used to always getting his way. If he would have nominated bozo the clown to be a supreme court justice, red nose and all, he surely would have been appointed. When he wants a program pushed through, we're seeing that the citizens and congress are supposed to fall in line and not protest it. Because that's what he's used to. That's what he's always surrounded himself with! His worshiping supporters.

But now he's on the national stage after winning around 50% of the vote with a 50% approval rating. While, as usual, the other 50% (anyone with 2 brain cells clicking together) absolutely despise this administration for what it is and are speaking out. The manner in which it is being handled should only serve to bring in reinforcements.

It's amazing that his main achievement in life was being a public organizer and now he's against the public organizing because they don't agree with him.

Yes, apparently there are some extremists. But since we know the democrat party has a history of using 'plants' to pursue agendas, who knows if the threats were actually real or plants used to discredit the protests?

Frankly, I'm glad people are getting angry. At some point, somebody has to take a stand. When has it gone to far? If Obama came out today and said we're confiscating 90% of everyone's salaries for the next 6 months in order to get the budget under control, make do with 10%, what should people do? Peaceably go to a town hall meeting??

I know we can count on people like Danr to say, "That sounds like a great idea!"

Vess are you saying that it is ok for people to use intimidation to make a political point? as that is what it sounds like. He has not come out and said he is confiscating anything so that is a facisiouse argument is it not. Either you believe in the rule of law for all or you do not

My point was that it is a bad idea to threaten a bunch of burly union guys with violence.

The point you guys are missing is the fact that these citizens who come out to voice their dissent to Obama and his schemes aren't some nationally "organized movement", they are simply people who want to be heard. The fact that the libs would have to call out their union thugs even adds to the image of Obama as some power-hungry facist-wanna-be-dictator who won't tolerate anyone who disagrees with him.

This is certainly not a spontaneous thing. That is just a silly assertion.

An "army" against "citizens"? How about "citizens against citizens"? Or does this concept escape you as so many others do?
What is forming is the potental for some ugly violence. You seem to be good with that as long as it's Libs that have it inflicted upon them. Man YOU ARE SERIOUSLY PATHETIC.

Now let's turn the tables a bit. Let's say there is a Town Hall Meeting and both sides are getting more and more cranked. You and your wife attend. Some "whacked out Lib" pulls a gun, takes a shot and kills your wife. Would that be okay?
Is it okay if a "whacked" out Conservative kills someone? Hell NO and anyone with a brain knows this. Anyone with a brain also knows there are "whacked out" individuals on either side as well.
It's easy for anyone to call me whacked out. Hey, I even own a gun but I know right from wrong. Some don't and those that idly dismiss serious threats are no better than those that would actually carry them out.

See my above statement David. People wanting to be heard and people bordering on death threats are two different animals.

Please explain to the class how threatening anyone with physical violence or even death because they disagree makes them right.

The Libs calling out the "union thugs"? I suppose it would be better if we just let the gun toting throngs "voice" their opinons.

You seem to be so good with this I wonder. When someone gets killed will it be okay?

No the point You are missing is that these people are trying to use intimidation and violence as a legitimate political tool and you are condoning it. Legitimate protest dosnt include verbaly threatening your opponents with violence, well not unless you are a Nazi or a Communist it dont, This sort of behaviour has no place in a democracy

Are you guys really this dense?
I'm not advocating violence...show 1 instance where I have, ever. Simply put, these supposed "threats" against the union's muscle are simply made up. It's a classic liberal tactic to divert attention away from the fact that Obamacare is bad for everyone.
    Get real.

So now it is once again A Obama PLOT!! David David at least try to stick with one story and I quote

Can you actualy prove that the threats were MADE UP David or is this another of your thoughts? cus if you cant prove it then they have to be taken as seriouse. You are quite happy to accuse the Democrats of calling out UNION THUGS as you put it though LOL

  16. KLJ

    KLJ Really Smart Guy

Could anybody prove the original threats were actually made? Sure, Danr used a link, but the Huffington Post is hardly an unbiased observer. Nor, for that matter, are the unions unbiased.

Were threats made? Probably in this situation (and certainly in others). Are they made by both sides? Yes. Are both sides screaming past each other? Without a doubt. Will anything get solved by people doing that? No.

I quite agree both sides are equaly able to do such things and such threats should be taken seriously and dealt with harshly by the law, that is the only way to stamp out such behaviour

You guys really have it bad for Obama.
In a mere 7 months he has taken over banks, taken over the auto industry, established the cash for clunkers where he tells you what type of auto you have to buy, appointed 30+ czars to "oversee" important functions of our government and now he wants to take away our right to choose healthcare for ourselves. What's next? Think about it folks...if this healthcare empire is passed there is no going back. It will create the largest bureaucracy in the world . It will be the largest supplier of services & will be the largest employer in the world. Is this what we want? Has government done such a good job with Social Security or the IRS that we can trust them to manage our health?
This period in time will be the subject of history books that my grandkids will be reading. What do we want it to say? 2010 was the turning point where the citizens of this country became subject to the state & the whims of it's leader? Too much power...too much power...too much power.
