Feds "Mess With Texas," Attack Anti-TSA Bill That bill the Texas state legislature was considering to prevent further abuse by the TSA, well, the TSA wins and Texas (and all of us) lose. Seems the TSA thinks that it would be better to close down the airports in Texas than give up their "right" to fondle the private parts of anyone who'd like to step on an airplane. I didn't know the TSA had the power to shut down airports!
Here's another DOJ Threatens to Turn Texas Into a "No Fly Zone" - Blogcritics Politics The original link works for me, though. It's being talked about in a wide array of media sites, just go to Google News, or Yahoo News, and search "TSA Texas" and you'll find reference to dozens of stories on the topic.
The original link worked for me, the second took a while to load but worked too. It boils down to being somewhat safer on an airplane vs invasive, humiliating searches... one or the other. I've never flown on an airplane, and doubt I ever will... I wouldn't allow someone to molest me lol
Texas just got bluffed into folding, in my opinion. They apparently didn't have the balls needed for the fight. There is no way the feds are going to stop all flights into and out of Texas. There would be a major nation-wide economic hit and a major revolt. It would affect the entire country. We aren't talking about North Dakota or Iowa.
I don't believe for a minute that what the TSA is doing makes us any safer. What has made air travel safer is locking down the cockpit on the airliners. Another thing that makes it safer, if it is happening, is having armed police on the plane. Grabbing people's private parts doesn't make anything safer. Yes, it would seem that Texas is all hat, no balls.
Perhaps Stu and you make an excellent point. There are MAJOR airports in Texas as well as, hell, just about every state in the union. Can the TSA shut down LA, Chicago, New York, Atlanta and the list goes on. Security is one thing. Rampant "nazi style" stupidity is another. The last time I flew was to visit Arizona Jack. I had to empty my pockets and take off my shoes at Ohare. No biggie. When I left Phoenix I was setting off an alarm. I was politely pulled to the side and "frisked". Before they did this they explained why, put on gloves and apologized repeatedly. I had nothing to hide so all I could say was that I was ticklish. I was not strip searched. I was "wanded" I was gently frisked while fully clothed. No crotch grabbing involved. This was done where others coud see me but I had no problem with it. We never did figure out why I was setting the alarm off but I was free to go. Nothing happened. The TSA has run amock. Perhaps next time I fly I shall just strip right in line. Of course I would probably be arrested for indecent exposure. But what would I know? Perhaps someone would have "planted" something on me. I would also endeavor to eat a healthy portion of baked beans next time beforehand. Nothing like an accidental fart in the face for the TSA. They deserve it. Lumps are an added bonus.
The reason they do is because of that damn fool underwear bomber, but I'd have to say the benefit isn't worth the cost. IMO, there is a limit to what we can do to prevent terrorism on planes... these searches have gone beyond that limit.
Yea, because the underpants are the most important factor in that case. All the TSA has to do is check everyone who wears underpants, and we'll be safe. It isn't relevant that he's a foreign-born Muslim male between the ages of 18 and 40. Nope, none of that is relevant. Also, we shouldn't pay any extra attention to people who recently spent several months in Yemen, they probably just spend their time sunning themselves on the beach there not attending terrorist training camps. Yea, definitely the lesson we should learn is that it is the underpants we need to watch.
I'm not disagreeing with you, underwear searches (and groping in general) are not necessary... I'd add that when someone's having flying lessons and yells at the instructer "I do not need to know how to land the plane!" and ululates, it'd be wise to say "What the (deleted) do you mean (deleted-deleted)!"...I think they should concentrate on THAT type of guy lol ...Common sense chit like that...lol
You guys would dance naked with a probing wand inserted in your a-hole if another plane was hijacked tomorrow and you'd do it gladly for an iota of security imagined or real that it would give you. This is the price we pay for our own fear and the fear mongering we have bought into. You can either shut up, strip down and bend over or stop giving into the fear merchants. You always have a choice or you can always choose to do nothing. Either way, you make a choice. Somehow, posting your dissatisfactions here seems like the least likely approach to changing anything. Dumb thread!
Clown post of the week. We know you have fantasies of the TSA guy giving you a dirty sanchez, but try to control your homosexual fantasies for a minute. The TSA is a prime example of what happens when you ask the government to solve a problem. They search 5 year old girls for bombs, just ridiculous. They should fire them all and spend that money on a finding a non-evasive method of searching air passengers. Then you try to blame the members of this forum for not taking action and using this forum as an outlet for their frustrations. I guess that means we won't be reading anymore of your anti-republican rants on PRWE in the future. Good thread, dumb Moen.
A probing wand? Not me brother. No stripping down or bending over for me. Choosing nothing would be the standard point of view, wouldn't it?
A "dirty sanchez". Now I cannot say I've ever heard that one before. I'll write that down for future use.
I choose "stop giving into the fear merchants" I guess, though I never had reason to fear... the U.P. doesn't see many terrorist activities anyway lol There were some "darker-skinned" guys reportedly video-taping the Soo Locks back in the "let's all fear everything" days in America... got the NSA all riled-up... lol ...Like destroying a lock to Lake Superior (as if THAT would be easy) would be a great "victory" for Al-Qaeda... "Oh no! How will we ever ship ore again?" ..."Try one of the other locks or use the trains?" lol America demanded safer flights, TSA responded... now that people aren't fearing every damn thing they think they see, the TSA should dial-back these invasive searches... people are getting pissed lol
"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Ben Franklin We've done it to ourselves. But, on the other hand, if you don't like being groped, don't fly.
You just beat out Moen for clown post of the week. Your attitude is exactly what Moen was referring to in his post. The searches conducted by the TSA are in violation of the Constitution and your answer is "don't fly".
