This man was of the likes of Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini etc. He favored a soviet union style of communism, and he was responsible for countless deaths. I find it funny that left leaning teenagers idolize a man who set up Cuba's labor camps which imprisoned gays, aids victims etc. This idiot was a vocal supporter of nuclear exchange during the cuban missile crisis. When Batista was overthrown, the peso was worth roughly a dollar. Then dumbass (che) was appointed as minister of economics. A year later, the peso was relatively worthless. Once a 14 year old boy was brought to the prison where che worked, and was there because he tried to protect his father from the firing squad. Che proceeded to pull out his pistol and shot the boy in the head. That's nothing compared to the rest of the stuff this moron did. What does he have as his legacy besides uneducated dolts praising him as heros? Cuba, a dictatorship where poverty runs rampant, people are executed for things as stupid as having satellite tv, a place where suicide runs rampant etc. This man was not a hero, he was an idiot. Thank goodness this moron is dead.
What I find sad, rather than left leaning teens, is someone apparently well educated and obviously opinionated, that chooses to use those teens as a source of their amusement. One shouldn't toss terms such as "dolt," "moron," and "idiot" lighty unless of course, one isn't acting like one. "left leaning" Does not even begin to describe me.
The reason I singled out teens, is that they generally are uneducated, and therefore buy into the nonsense. How many adults do you see wearing che t-shirts, besides drugged up hippies?(I should mention that I support legalization of all drugs). If someone actually read a objective book about Che, there is no way they could idolize him, unless of course they also idolized the likes of Hitler. Also, when did I say you were left leaning?
I am not communist, (though I do support the proper role of the state in some services and I do like the idea of the social safety net), but I do see why Castro was p!ssed, the Cuban people really did get the shaft under Batista (unfortunately Castro was not better). As for Che he is a footnote in history.
Well, when you said "left leaning teenagers" I assumed you meant me because I am a teen. Don't assume simply because I am 15 years old that I am not educated, as I'm sure you well know there have been many different things said about Che guevara, maybe we choose to believe different things about him. Oh and when did I say I idolized him?
You didn't. Nor did I say you did. On a different note though, you must certainly admire him, seeing that loser is pictured in your avatar. If he were alive today, and I had the opportunity, I would kill him in an instant due to the atrocities that man has committed. Also, you can believe what you want, what I am talking about are cold hard undeniable facts, and I'm sure what you have read was some stupid socialist propaganda. I'm not surprised to find that you are a teen, because things such as admiring Che seem to be the trendy thing to do today. How ironic is it, that the pictures and images of him that get distributed are due to capitalism? I would suggest anyone that thinks Che was heroic go live in the mess he created, and come back and tell me if they still have the same opinion of one of the most violent moronic individuals of all time.
Trendy? Give me a goddamn break. I plan on changing my avatar, not because I think you are right, but because I think I am wrong, big difference babe. Anyways..............I'm about ready to stomp on this beef
Zane I think that there is more to it than you are letting on. Anytime someone is compared to Hitler my BS sensor goes up. Those who Che opposed were no angels.
What about when Bush is compared to Hitler? I don't think what he did was as bad as Hitler, but had he had the power, he would have killed just as many people, perhaps more.
By the way Teehee, I wasn't trying to attack you in any way. Just pointing out that I don't like Che. I would hate to be responsible for you not feeling welcome here, as we welcome everyone, except those who like to cheat and steal from coin collectors (I am not speaking on behalf of the website, although I feel most would agree) Also, could you explain what you mean when you say "I'm about to stomp this beef"?
Gotta agree with you Zaneman. Che was definitely a clown. From Wikipedia: "Gue Guevara played a key role in bringing to Cuba the Soviet nuclear-armed ballistic missiles that precipitated the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962. During an interview with the British newspaper Daily Worker some months later, he stated that, if the missiles had been under Cuban control, they would have fired them against major U.S. cities." That's a lovely thought, isn't it? I don't understand the adoration a lot of young people in America have for this animal. Who know, perhaps in 40 years, the teens will be wearing T-shirts depicting al-Zarqawi...
In many parts of Asia, teens wear tee shirts with Bin Ladens portrait on them like idiots in the USA that wear the Che Guevara shirts. Some more on Che Guevara, he was not really a communist, he was just a radical ARGENTINIAN, not even a Cuban, and he was killed in Bolivia. He had been sent to Bolivia for more reasons than just fomenting revolution, but also because his big head and Fidel Castro's were too much for one another. When he was killed by CIA hired operatives in Bolivia it worked out all the better for Castro as the other big head was out of the picture, and he became a martyr. Much like back in 1934 in USSR when Kirov was becoming big boss in Leningrad, and Stalin began to fear him. So he was killed by an "assassin" in the capitalist employ and became a martyr for communism and took away one serious challenger to Stalin.
In many Latin American countries the poor truly were (and are) oppressed by a tiny group of low life scum. Revolution is a natural outcome under those circumstances Che was just the dude who happened to be there at that time. Now it is a guy named Marcos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subcomandante_Marcos) who is fighting the good fight.
When you speak the truth you are projecting from the point of power, not weakness. Che's buffoonary and prediliction towards violence and death even as he was advocating the communist way are well documented. It strikes me as funny though as the mass of Che worshippers wasnt to go on singing his praises from the relative bastion of capitalism we live in. I'm sure che would eat that up, then shoot them all later for not being radical enough.
What I meant by "I'm about ready to stomp on this beef" was that I was tired of arguing with you. Oh and just call me Mandy.
I find it funny that the anti Che group are relying on dated propaganda. You have not been told what to think about communism lately therefore you have to spout ideas that are pre1990 and have a propaganda style from that era. Our propaganda is far more sophicated now, if you used post 2000 propaganda techniques your ideas would be much more stylish.
