Lets hear some strange facts about the Democratic Political Party. One unusual one which was sent to me a few weeks ago is really telling. Were you aware the overwhelming majority of Bigfoot Researchers AKA "Sasquatologists" in the USA are Democrats.. dd: :rolling: dd: :rolling: dd: :vanish:
And the majority of statistical analysts are democratic. Last poll: 99 out of a hundred were Dems, although they just made that up, as they do with most statistics.
Because they get their funding and grants from the government. There's a shock! If you want more government, you are very likely to be a democrat gimmee-gimmee-gimmee person. The 2005 Pig Book identified a record 13,997 projects in the 13 appropriations bills that constitute the discretionary portion of the federal budget for fiscal 2005, costing taxpayers $27.3 billion. A "pork" project is a line-item in an appropriations bill that designates tax dollars for a specific purpose in circumvention of established budgetary procedures. This is why government workers don't want the president (I don't care you he is) should have the line item veto! Try these on for size... $9,100,000 for projects in the state of Senate Commerce Appropriations subcommittee member Herb Kohl (D-Wis.) and the district of House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member David Obey (D-Wis.), including: $3,000,000 for a geodetic survey; $950,000 for the Milwaukee County Judicial Oversight Demonstration Initiative; $500,000 for the Fox Valley Technical College DNA Training Initiative; $400,000 for Milwaukee Community Partners; and $150,000 for the Milwaukee Summer Stars Program. S4,400,000 for projects in the state of Senate Commerce Appropriations subcommittee member Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), including: $1,750,000 for the Vermont Drug Task Force; $1,000,000 for equipment and planning for the Vermont Forensics Laboratory; $250,000 for Vermont northeast weather and wind data integration; and $100,000 for the Vermont Coalition of Teen Centers. Also...the fiscally irresponsible republicans are just as bad too! Heaven help us if the private sector invests millions in R&D on a cure for a disease then wishes to...(Gulp)...SELL the fruits of their labor!! That is profit and that is a dirty word to democrats who are more interesting in spending somebody else's money never their own. Quote Dan Ackroyd's character from the first "Ghostbusters" when they were thinking of going into business. "You haven't worked in the private sector...I have, and they expect results." True...so true!!
What part of R&D in the private sector don't you understand? If the government was smart...they would offer R&D prizes...like a $10 billion prize to the first American company that can get us off oil or something along those lines.
Strange and unusal bed fellows: maverick conservative Republican *— and presidential contender — Ron Paul of Texas, will be getting plenty of help from anti-war Democrats on his proposal (HR 2605) to repeal President Bush’s authority to use force in Iraq within six months.
Right here, this sentence underlined and in red. This shows how much your assumptions really lead you to the truth. Depending on the field of study, most grants for research aren't from the government but private industry these days. I have personal knowledge of grants and where they come from so I can actually express an informed opinion while all you can do is try to fit your preconceptions of Democrats and Republicans into your ill-informed view of the world.
Like my grandfather used to say, 'Pin a rose on Moen' the smartest person this side of the Atlantic. If you don't believe me, just ask him.
USA Government Grants are available for: Small Business Grants $151.5 Billion Housing and Healthcare Grants $186.1 Billion Student and College Grants $86.4 Billion Personal Needs and Cash Grants $ 93.4 Billion Minority Grants $57.5 Billion Women's Grants $99.7 billion Research Grants $ 96.5 Billion Community Development $38.5 billion Non profit Organization Grants $103 billion For the Year 2007 there are over 1,000 Federal Programs, 24,000 State Programs, 30,000 Private Foundations and 20,000 Scholarship Programs available. There are over 1500 Government Grant Programs administered by 57 different Federal Agencies! But wait!!! We need more government, right Moen?????
You are too ill-informed to even speak coherently on the subject. You can't see past your etched in stone view of the world. Your ignorance has humbled me into silence, REJOICE!
Great come back indeed! I cited numbers and endless government agencies and I am the one ill-informed??? Interesting...
Ahhhh! I see, more of your pseudo-intellectual attempts to rationalize your opinion with the facts. Well might I ask you then given the government grants you cited how can you tell me how do they compared to private grants? Don't over warm your head I'll tell you, No you can't. So you've given us one side and proclaimed yourself the knower of all. How cute. You cite so many numbers without the slightest idea of their validity, their meaning, or even what source put them on your internet screen for what purpose as long as they fit your preconceived ideas, they are good enough. Are there any uses of our collective tax money that you don't view as gimme gimme? And don't you think that others may view your choices as gimme gimme? Has that ever occurred to you or are you too stuck in your own narrow view to think outside of yourself?
So how much is ENOUGH government? How much should one pay in taxes? 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90% taxes high enough for you? ...as long as it's not YOUR money, right?
Let's turn this question around and as it of yourself! I don't really expect you to answer, so don't bother.
Zero would be wonderful but I live in this country and on this planet. But doesn't it really come down to using the tax money WE ALL pay in for the programs WE approve of? Surely their are things you think the government SHOULD use the tax revenue for? You can't be against everything or else the government would take in money and do nothing, RIGHT? So, just what things do YOU approve of the government paying for and what things do you believe that our collective taxes should not pay for? Should we take our military expenditures that are already bigger than the rest of the world's country's combined and add more money? Should we pay our political leaders more? Should we spend less/more on the infrastructure of this country? In other words, what is your personal list of things that it would be Okie-Dokie for the government to spend money on? The money the rest of us all contribute to the same pot but which you seem to know best how to spend. Enlighten me with your wisdom Oh compassionate one.
