The "religion of peace"...you think??

Look there are some brutal things in the Bible (check out Joshua), and those passages are sometimes abused, but I certainly would not throw out the Bible because of it.

 

Big deal...

The difference is that Christians and Jews have moved into the 21st Century where as your mulsim friends want to take us back to the middle ages. As I outlined and documented, the numerous passages in the Koran are pretty clear and instructive to true believers of islam. Where do these passages orginate from? The prophet Mohammad! The big dog!

It is one of the reasons why the prison populations have seen an increase in islamic conversions. After all, it doesn't matter if you raped and killed, if you convert to islam and practice it, you have young virgins waiting for you in allah's heaven.

So...please prove to me that islam is a peaceful religion.

 

There is no such thing as a peaceful religion. And no such thing as a violent religion. Religion is an idea, and it's up to the practitioners to decide how to act responsibly toward their fellow humans. At the moment, with Aiden's comments about stoning homosexuals notwithstanding, Christians generally do a better job at it, because they've selected a better set of examples for themselves to live up to.

I think the best hope for peace in Islam is modern information technology. Peaceful movements for reform, like those of MLK and Gandhi, can only work if the world can witness it. Moslems need exposure to peaceful ideas outside their religion and communication with peaceful people within it; and they need to see the rest of the world reacting positively to it. The ability to have this is pretty new, and still making inroads. The students in Tehran who love their bluejeans and Bruce Springsteen CDs can now get, along with those commodities, glimpses of Western newspapers and the speeches of women's rights advocates.


edited to add: Not that they are openly listening to Springsteen on the streets of Tehran...

 

Kurds are not considered to be muslims by shia and sunnis alike which is why they are treated so badly. Thier version of the koran, to my understanding, is quite different.

I feel bad for the muslim world for they are brain washed into a world of hate.
But I feel worse for the millions of people a year who feel the hatred of Islam.

And I feel I must state that for the record Aidan that it is wrong to stone someone to death for being gay. Now if you consider being gay a sin may I remind you of the quote, "let him without sin cast the first stone"...

 

I would never try to change your mind Midas. I can tell the combination to that vault was lost long ago. But I don't let that little fact keep me from making fun of you and your narrow-minded views. Proving any point to you that you don't already believe would be a waste of anyone's time, so I don't bother. You are one of those folks who have made their own opinion irrelevant on your own. Andy,I saw some footage recently in which some Muslim pilgrims were biffing rocks at 3 pillars in Mecca as a symbolic way of driving away the Devil.This ritual is an essential part of the Haj.It is called 'Stoning the Jamarat'.
I got my Muslim friends laughing when I told them this,
"It is a pity that a faggot,a lesbian,& a transexual weren't tied to those 3 pillars.If they were,the pilgrims would not only be doing their religious duty,they'd be carrying out the death penalty at the same time!".

Andy,I know you like to quote me verses from the Bible.
Here is my favourite one,"Man shall not lie with mankind as with womankind,for that is an abomination.Whoever does so shall be put to death".This comes from the Book of Leviticus.The Book of Romans also conveys the same message,albeit,worded differently.

Danr,this is a mad world that we are living in,considering that corrupt politicians are handing civil rights to lowlifes on a plate,despite popular opinion against such moves.Look
at Canada,New Zealand,& Great Britain.they've effectively legalised buggery,child abuse & the spread of Aids.To me,there is one one good homosexual or transexual - one that has been either shot or blown up!

Jill Carroll is being held by your typical muslim terrorists who are threatening to kill her. Of course the terrorist television network Al Jazeera always has the latest video showing these animals standing over their captive awaiting beheading orders. Of course when the beheading takes place, they will be the first to show the muslim world their religion in action. Actually that would be a good thread all to itself..."Should the terrorist network of Al Jazeera be allowed to have an office in the United States?" After all, they are nothing more than a blow horn from islamic terrorists!



Here's a challenge to the muslim world...how many days do you think you can go without kidnapping innocent people or blowing yourself (and others) in the name Allah?

Danr...ask your muslim friends to refute or explain why their Koran has ALL of the passages I listed on page one. I would love to hear them explain that islam is such a beautiful religion when the prophet mohammad (the big dog) obviously doesn't see it that way.

My comment to Aidan was about the gay stuff.

 

Not quite so fast there partner, I rather like the idea and could get used to such a practice here in the western world. Those Arabs may have come up with something after all.
