Ohhhhh, not that pope... and I didn't even know there was more than one lol The death of Pope Shenouda highlights quandaries faced by Coptic Christians The Economist - March 24th, 2012 http://www.economist.com/node/21551110 It's an interesting article, especially considering how Egypt is still so unstable. I read somewhere else his reign lasted 40 years, 4 months, and 4 days... conjures images of Noah somewhat lol One question that came to mind upon learning of this pope's death was, how many popes are there? Apparently there are five...though only two apparently used the title: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_popes_of_various_religions_are_there_in_the_world They are: (or were, as the late pope above was one of the five) Pope Shenouda III, Bishop of Alexandria and Patriarch of all Africa. Pope Benedict XVI, Bishop of Rome. Bartholomew I, Archbishop of Constantinople New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch. Ignatius Zakka I Iwas, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East. But again... I only count four names above... must religions be so confusing? Ok, that last one may actually may be wiki's fault... but eh.
Well it's only been 2,000 years or so, Daylight Savings. They can't figure out all this pope/patriarch/bishop stuff overnight. Give 'em another few millennia and maybe they'll be able to tell us who's on first. And btw, I can't believe you forgot to mention Bradley II Supreme Pontiff of Venice Beach and Patriarch of Santa Monica and West Hollywood.
How about the inventor of the "pope-on-a-rope" soap thing? They had a slogan that was something like "Cleanliness is next to godliness", or whatever. I'd think "For use on soiled-souls" would also work.
OMG this provides me with almost endless possibilities to offend and get in trouble here. I'd better go away now. (Note to David: No, it's just for the evening)
