Yeah but it took 3 shots (at close range) and he survived to make it to a hospital. In a home invasion, a 1 shot body bag from across the room is a more acceptable goal.
I remember in the 80ies, some actor accidentally offed himself by playing Russian Roulette with a gun loaded with 1 blank. So pretty much any gun and round can kill but there are definitely degrees. And like any tool, suitability and intended purpose has to be a factor, IMO. And I think that is important in regulation too.
Exactly. It's all about location of the injury. A shot to the head from a 22 is gonna kill, a shot to the heart from a 22 is gonna kill, but just about anywhere else on a body isn't. A local bank teller got her arm blown off by a shotgun, but she survived. If the shot was to her head, she wouldn't have. Location, location, location.

You forgot to mention that he was a distinguished professor of Education at Chicago, so him giving a lecture on education to teachers is entirely appropriate and logical, no matter how you spin your right-wing top.
