How did this thread degenerate into a discussion of All in the Family episodes?

BTW I liked when Sammy Davis Jr. kissed Archie. Oh the look on his face.

    for real.

this is just the way that the left and right like to dodge the hard hitting questions and redirect your attention to pop culture.

Well it started out as a topic on homosexuals and you have added to that about enjoying watching a man kiss another man. Now that is degeneration.

This is the no spin zone....:)

That is my favorite also. Remember when Archie called the Hope diamond the Pope diamond, they threw little things like that in all the time.

It is absolutely sickening to read back some of these comments made earlier. Just unphatomable the kind of ignorance that is allowed to breed and multiply.

    1. There are far more male child molesters who prey on girls than there are on boys. How does that make gays any more unsuitable around children?
    2. Why shouldn't gays be allowed to adopt just because YOU have a problem explaining that to YOUR child? I'm sorry, the world does not revolve around you.
    3. How do gay couples cause children to be gay? It's straight parents that breed/raise gay children in the first place isn't it?
    4. There we are supporting our troops out there to "liberate" the women of Afghanistan from Sharia laws that allow stoning women who have sex with men other than her husband, the same kind of law that stones gays. There we have the same members who would say it's ok to kill gays.
    5. Sure we have no problem seeing flaunting of female sexuality EVERYWHERE. Wet t-shirt contest, Hooters waitresses, football cheerleaders, even lesbian getting at it on TV. But nooooo they have to boycott stations that would air two men kissing.
    6. There is a problem with the institution of marriage in western society in general with over 50% of heterosexual marriages end in divorce. There we are saying gays have no rights and unfit to marry, as if the heterosexuals are doing such a good job staying married. Oh yeah, i'm sure there'd be people blaming the gays for the general failure of the institution of marriage.
7.Since heterosexuals have such a tough time staying married, they should be banned from marrying. Divorced men and women shouldn't be allowed with children either. Look at how many of these problem children coming from broken families? Surely heterosexual marriage is to blame.
    8. Do you honestly think that a heterosexual stepfamily or a single parent family is any better than a loving family of two men and two women? I mean, how can you EVER explain to your kids that this child has half-brothers and half-sisters. That is just unnatural. I mean, where do you see in nature that creature has step families? But there are tons of examples of homosexual behaviour in the natural world.
    9. Single motherhood, teenage pregnacy all caused by heterosexuality. Root of endless social problems.
    10. A women brought the downfall of a president. If Lewisky was a lesbian or Clinton was gay, none of this oval office encounter would've happened. Again, heterosexuality is to blame.
    11. How many times have you heard of homosexual rape? Men raping women? Dime and dozen. Conclusion: heterosexual men are dangerous sex criminals and pedophiles.

That's my rant for now. I really can't stand hypocrits.

As the comedian Lynn Lawner has said, “The Bible contains 6 admonitions to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn’t mean that God doesn’t love heterosexuals. It’s just that they need more supervision.”

Response: There is so much to response to. I will only choose one point to defend for now with a brief note.

I think it is as wrong to allow single hetrosexual men to adopt girls as it would be to allow homosexuals to adopt. Now not every single hetrosexual or homosexual man would abuse the child but why allow a climate to exisit which would place a child in harms way. Lets face it, you will be having people adopting for the wrong reasons just as we have had priests and teachers becoming priest and teachers for the wrong reasons. Let us not create new hunting grounds.

Note: One of the reasons why I feel that there is so much sexual abuse of kids today is that the media is presenting kids as sex objects. It started with jean ad's in the late 1970's and it has progressed to the Disney Channal having youngesters dancing and dressed as if they are in their 20's and out in the Manhattan night club scene.

Andy I have to say that I totaly agree with your comments upon the media and its depiction of children, I find it incredably offensive  it sometimes feels as if there are no boundaries when it comes to selling something (Big dig at the Advertising community LOL)

    As a gay man myself.

I've never been so proud of the UK as I was of it today...when Gay Marriage was legalised.

Someone said to me today 'Bush will be ****ed'

    Oh well.

Another example that shows we arnt not the 51st state.

Did the UK legalize gay marriage today? I hadn't heard the news. Well, I say "hooray"... and my respect to you for standing up and telling us you're gay. There are some people on here who would like to see gay people dead. May those people learn the error of their ways.

I don't believe you will hear any of us say, **** the Queen!

    Yes, you are right.

    I was a little hasty.

To heck with Bush...on this issue.

And everyone else who doesn't agree with equal rights for gays.

I was debating with some coworkers one day. it went like this: They said the Bible says homosexuality is a sin. I said: The bible was used extensively to justify slavery, I told them they may be on the wrong side of this debate just as the proslavery people were (despite their interpretation of the Bible).
Anyway I found out later that one of the people listening quietly and not participating was gay.
I bet they thought I was pretty cool.

Congrats! I didn't even hear it on the news. Maybe that will give me another reason to move to the UK if Harper managed to scrap gay marriage once he gets elected.

It's naive for many Americans (and a few rednecks here) to think that we are just the 51st state. Beneath the Walmarts and American television, we might as well be on different continents.

Not sure if you've heard about the foreign hostages held in Iraq currently with 2 Canadians as well as a Brit and an American. The Canadians were clearly given a better treatment. That says alot.
