Well we have had a few references to gay stuff here so I thought I should give everyone a chance to voice their opinion. I think it must be tough to be gay in our society, I think they take a lot of cr*p .Most of the gays I have known have been pretty cool and very competent people.
I think gays should have equal rights but not special rights.
If you have products to sell try to aim them at gay customers they tend to have more disposible income (no kids).
    Military? sure.
Immoral? well check the Bible not too much about it there
    Genetic (born that way)? probably.
Really I glad I'm not gay it would be a tough go of it in America being gay.

    What say you?

Me I have no problems with Gay's never have & never will, have never understood Homophobia. As for Gay's in the millitery why not, they are not all simpering queens as the media has a habit of portraying them. I am not that Religiouse in the conventianal sense I believe in a god but not neciserely the bible as that is the interpretation of man (and men are fallible LOL come on bite into that one  )

i try and judge everyone i meet on a person by person bases.
as far as marriage goes well i dont think the govenmnet should have any control on anyones marriage.its just a whole hill of problems that could start out that way.it should be more up ot the local comunity
in the military. well if they can shoot and get shot at as well as any straight person than i dont see a problem.if i was in the military i would rather have a homosexual fighting along side me than a drafty.

and the last thing is the flamboyant gays drive me crazy and just get on my nerves.but i gotta say ive meet plenty of girls that get on my nerves for the same reason.i dont know if anyone here has seen will and grace but jack is the kind of guy that bugs me.

27 years in the entertainment industry and proud to say I've met, worked with, and for many gay members of mine and other unions. They are super artistic and professional folks. I have been invited to, and attended many gay parties. Never once have I been "HIT" upon. They are fun loving and caring people and I call many of them close friends. - BUT - I do not feel they should be able to call their unions marriage. A "Union, Mating, Togetherness, Whatever" I think they should have the same rights and a marriaed couple. Insurance, Social Security, etc. just please pick another name for it. They are very open and we have spent many hours bantering back and forth over the issue. Push come to shove, A good Lesbian will out-work most men, and are more Team oreinted also. Just don't mess with their girl friends.

I am all for gay couples raising children, and receiving the same tax benefits as heterosexual couples. I am against the government giving a definition of marriage - marriage should be a religious institution only. If a religion wants to ALLOW gay marriage, then they should be able to do that as well.

I am against excluding gays from the military. People often say that the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy allows gays to enter the military, but the fact is that they can't posess pictures, talk about, etc., their significant others, or their lifestyle, or they get discharged. The military misses out on some skilled servicemen this way.

Also, there's more & more evidence that homosexuality is a trait you are born with. Homosexuality hurts nobody. Gays can tell the difference between other gays and straight people, so unless they aren't very observant gays, they will not hit on you. Even if they do, just tell them that you are not gay, and they will leave you alone.

Also, they throw great, well organized parties. :)

This comment seems to have an anti-homosexual tone to me since it was made as an insult. Is this an example of how hard it must be gay in this nation when someone would infer that someone else is gay to insult them which would mean in their mind that being gay is horrible or at least communicating that thought to others

if i were to have said the same thing but changed all the references from gay to black or jewish it would be seen as a bigot.

just my opinion which is really only worth 2 cents anyways

Words. Words are funny. And they keep changing. :)

In days of old, "gay" meant "happy and carefree". Then the word "gay" was used almost exclusively to mean a "male homosexual" Now, as often as not, "gay" means "silly, foolish, and totally out-of-place".

I watch South Park partly to find out what is happening in the world. Man, is that "gay" or what? :thumb:

No, No, I was simply letting you two explore your gay leanings. That's all Andy.

Moen this is a thread that was meant to be sensitive and understanding on how hard it must be to be a homosexual in a nation that does not fully accept that a homosexual is a person first and foremost and you are still throwing rocks. Do you hate homosexuals that when you disagree with someone that you think they must be gay or is it that you think that by calling someone a homosexual that you are insulting them and that gives you a rush.

I thought the posts were going swingingly and I was just lurking around and agreeing with many of the liberal opinions being expressed. Then along came post #6 and someone who we both dearly love tossd a rock diectly at me. Got any idea who that might be Andy. I really don't think it was insulting to gays as much it was to homophobics. But, if any of the gay readers out there were insulted, I appologize to them. Remember, as you and your rightwing buddies, most of which haven't bothered to express any opinion in this thread, have said many times, we liberals are the understanding crowd.
Just to get back on topic, how would you handle one of your children coming home and telling you that they are gay? It's easy to say you aren't homophobic when it doesn't impact you directly, but what about when it comes home? I know that my opinion wouldn't change. I would love my children and anyone they decided to be with.

That reminds me of the old joke about the woman who confided in her local priest that her daughter had become a prostitute. The priest was outraged and indicated that the daughter was certain to go to hell until he realized that the woman had indeed said prostitute and not protestant.

A casual count indicates that San Francisco has more gays than registered Republicans.

I have not posted in this thread, because we aren’t bothered with these types of people in Wyoming. Yes, I know we have bisexuals, gays, lesbians & transgender people traveling through the state. But their stay is only temporary and no one I know encourages them to remain. We have no hate-crime laws in Wyoming either. Everything is taken care of with existing laws, and no special legislation is wanted or needed.

I personally don’t know one of these people, nor do I care to know one. They are free to live and do what ever they do, as long as it don’t infringe on my rights to not have them any where around me. The damn bleeding heart Democratic Administration in Washington made us take their wolves and bear. We took care of that with an old west law called “S & S" (shoot and shovel). The problem is solved. Don’t really think we will be bothered with some other type of vermin. That is just how it goes down around these parts.

There was a homosexual who lived in Wyoming, but unfortunately he was tied to a fence post and beaten to death!

I respect, but don't agree with your point of view, OldDan as there are many, many homosexuals who live in Wyoming.

None that I know of, or associate with!

We never thought of using them as money, but then we don't have any unimployment in the state. With all that tax money coming in for oil and coal, we don't need a cash-cow.

Ya, the boys did go a little too far when they hung him out to dry! On the other hand, it has never been a gay hate crime, only the "gay" community hadn't yelled and hollered their heads off, have said it is. One of the boy's father even said it wasn't a gay crime: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/national/longterm/hatecrimes/stories/shepard101298.htm

I simply meant that this portion of the population do not cause a lot of problems and and usually are pretty productive members of society. Am I wrong?
