If something is an insult and also happens to be true, isn't the onus on the insultee to dispute the truth of the insult rather than just noting that it is an obvious insult? A valid criticism is after all always an insult to the individual being criticized.

 

Valid criticism is not an insult. You are correct. Saying someone has an "irrational fixation" does not fit anyone's definition of "valid criticism" with the possible exception of a single notable individual (and his parrot).

 

Obama Derangement Syndrome IS an irrational fixation and fits the definition perfectly.
