The Death Penalty

If every law-abiding citizen would carry a weapon(meaning a gun) around with them whereever they went, and use it if attacked by a criminal; not only would the prisons be empty(let them all out first), but the crime rate would go down the tubes. Look at Great Britain. They used to be a normal country, then they banned guns. Tony Martin(a farmer) got life for wounding someone who was robbing his home with his shotgun. Absolutely incredible! And outrageous. And the reason I would never visit De Orc's home. But after Great Britain put in their gun control laws, crime went through the roof! The murder rate is up like 40%, and theft is rampant. As far as I'm concerned, any patriotic American should do his duty and own and carry and use firearms. The reason Hitler didn't attack Switzerland is because the citizenry are required to own and use firearms, and he knew he wouldn't be able to conquer it. Anyone who is for gun control laws in this country is someone who I would gladly send to Siberia for the duration of their miserable life.

Craig the carrying of fierarms without a licence has not been permited in the UK since the first world war the latest ban came about due to this mascre at Dunblain in Scotland

Also it was a ban on automatic and semi autos + handguns. Farmers still own shotguns and keep them at home hence Tony Martin, but hanguns & Rifles must be held at a registerd gun club.

In 2002, 16,110 people were murdered in the USA.

Tony Martin was Jailed for shooting thiefs yes but they were running away from his property and by the way he killed one of them thats why he was given life not for wounding.
Yes I will admit that street crime is up as is burglary in the south east of the country this is mainly due to the influx of immigrants from the former comunist block.

How many serial killers has the US had?? over here well you can count them on one hand.


If you are afraid of visiting the UK how on earth can you consider going out over there??

De Orc,here in New Zealand,citizens have very few rights when it comes to fighting crime.I know of a young guy in Auckland who was arrested on assaualt charges for beating
up a 15 year old who broke into a shop.The community rallied around this very good citizen,who is a real hero in south Auckland.The Police are not up to the job in many areas.

A few years ago,a farmer was charged with shooting at thieves who was stealing his 4-wheeled motorcycle.One of the thieves died as a result of getting what he deserved - a bullet! In the end,the farmer got aquitted of the charges,as
he was shooting in both self-defence & in defence of his property.I do not blame these farmers who have to resort to these desparate measures,as the corrupt politicians have
effectively destroyed the Police as a crime-fighting force.

Aidan please understand I was not having a go at what Tony Martin did more power to his triger finger in my book but he could have at least had the sence to shoot him in front and yes the law can and quite often is a ass. The other thing you have too consider is do you want the police to investigate all crime or just the ones your comunity think are ok? now if you let everyons decide then you have anarchy, try looking at it like this for example 'What if the 15 year old broke into the shop to get even for something the store keeper did to him?' not saying that is what happend I dont know but nither do you until the police has investigated.

The problem with your logic here Andy is that "the good guys" are just one finger squeeze on the trigger away from being categorized as "the bad guys". Then, as if by magic, these "good guys" were never really "good guys" in the first place. They were really just "bad guys" because no "good guys" would ever do anything bad with a legal gun because only "bad guys" use guns illegally. Just a circular argument used to keep guns in society regardless of which category you fall into.

I have never suggested that we take everyone’s guns away. Many people are responsible hunters and target shooters. A relative that I visited this past weekend has 6 consecutive first place plaques for his target shoot skills. He doesn't think that we all need Uzis and assault weapons to exercise our second amendment rights. He is a reasonable and rational gun owner that can own a weapon for sport not for some weird testosterone rush.

I can't speak for the Left, or the Right or that matter, but I do know that there are extremists on both sides that try to push the boundaries of good sense. I see many people in this forum using the extremists’ rhetoric to argue their points and I have to wonder if they really know what they are saying or are they just espousing a convenient sound bite. Hopefully, those of us that dance around the center of good sense have the insight to reject the extremists’ version of reality.

And remember; Guns don’t kill people, people kill people, with guns!
