The better pessimist: Democrats or TV media?

Um Clinton wanted to restructure the military with less men and more high tech weapons. You can not get more industrial military complex then that.
Never mind helping to build nuclear reactors in North Korea, our space program to China with all of the missle technology, etc..

Clinton is not what you think. He allowed more large companys to merge then any other president. Look at what happen to the banking industry and the oil industry in our country to name a few. The old anti-trust break up the monopolys laws were ignored under his watch. It helped fuel the stock market for awhile along with other factors. If I remember correctly at one time even Lowes and Home Depot were investigating the option of a merger and that was the only one shot down. But that was a long time ago. Read the business section of the Wall Street Journal and forget about the nightly news.

You may not have read about it but our victory in Europe has been attributed to Ike's famous smile. He kept morale up very effectively. I am not making this up Ike's smile IS a big deal.
As for the rest we obviously differ in our opinions.

 

A bunch of war guys like you should know that Ike's smile is big in the history books. I really am surprised that you have not heard about it.

 

I am pretty sure that there were more base closings under Clinton than any other pres (could be wrong) but Clinton's presidency is generally seen as a drawdown of our military (peace dividend). Clinton is quite different than say Carter, Clinton played the game big time, sure he comprimised often but I believe that his heart was and is with the common working man and he got the best deal possible for the common man. The quality of his appointments was certainly better than we have seen lately (look at dept. of education, or God forbid FEMA).

The enemy our troops are fighting are also filtering in from Syria, Iran and the peaceful loving people of Saudi Arabia. They wanted jihad and jihad they are getting. Yes, it is a World War. Maybe it doesn't fit your definition of war like those in the past where large armies fought each other. At least Japan and Germany formerly surrendered and abided by the surrender document.

Today's mulsims only recognize their allah and the prize of 72 virgins waiting for them in "their" heaven. They hit and then hide within the population while proclaiming they are "peaceful and loving". You buy that nonsense, I don't. So that is where we are...I support this fight against islam and you want to cut, hide and surrender.

Kerry had many great plans but they did not get much press. He wanted to make catostrophic health ins a gov provided thing. This would be VERY pro business. I don't know if you have a business but health ins KILLS you.

Again...another spending program and income tax redistribution. Voters looked at this and decided that government needs to stay away from 1/6 of our ecnomy. You may believe that government does a better job than the private sector, but the facts clearly show that free enterprise and competition are the best means to provide the best service and the lowest costs. Socialism doesn't work. Captialism does.

If you really want to address medical costs, you need to go after the trial lawyers that make it practice to sue/extort 30 to 50% of these lottery settlements.

Who pays for it? You and I. After all, most companies have to spend billions each year in preventative lawsuit protection. Did we put a warning label on the fishing hook warning people not to injest the hook? (Actual case).

Laugh all you want, but businesses are spending a fortune to protect themselves from "slip and fall" trail lawyers that make their living suing people and businesses. They don't produce one damn thing...all they do is extort! When you see those thousands and million dollar awards, who do you think pays for it? What happens? Liability insurance goes through the roof. If you practice medicine, look out because one band-aide placed on the wrong cut will result in a lawsuit.

Show me ONE democrat that wants "loser pays" legislation and a cap on lawsuits...just ONE. You won't because the trial lawyers are one of the largest PAC's contributing money to the democratic party.

 

If they are ready to draft a 45 year-old man into the military to fight islam, I am there. You on the other hand will probably run to Canada and if you do, DON'T come back! In the meantime (if you care), I volunteer my time at my local VFW post. If you really want a perspective from men that fought in wars, ask them. Friday fish fries are the best. I love picking the mind of those that fought in WWII, Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf. I also thank them and support them.

Midas is at least fighting the islam proganda machine that has taken over so much of our media. Remember wars are usually won or lost on the homefront. Germany did not surrender World War I because of the army not winning (they actually were if you consider all the French soil that they were on) they did because of the sickness of its citizens and the communists who were rioting at home.

My only concern is going too far the other way, and spreading propoganda in the exteme opposite direction. Beyond that, what a person does or says is their own business. I just don't like spreading that stuff here.
