Which collective has a more negative attitude about the Republicans, Iraq, bird flu, anything the administration supports, anything the adminstration doesn't support, anything that happened today, anything that might happen tommorow? The only good news from the media is when a suspected murderer is caught. I honestly don't remember hearing a positive thought from any democrat recently. The news needs to be presented and discussed, but do we as a nation have to focus on only the negative aspects of the daily happenings? *****ing about the problem does nothing to resolve the problem. Constructive criticism seems to be an abstract concept in this present media/political era. Anyone have any positive views contrary to the present "focus on the bad news" attitude of life that exists. What happened to the "bearer of bad news" concept? Bob
When you have no platform, when you have no vision other than take, take, take, and gimmee, gimmee, gimmee...all at the expense of people that PRODUCE in this country...what do you expect? It's only natural for the left to hate Bush and be anit-this and anti-that because they have nothing to rally around. So they believe the best way to elevate themselves is to destroy their enemies...especially the presdient who they hate. Of course actions speak louder than words, but when you have nothing to act upon, you will continue to see Polosi, Reid, Kennedy, etc., stand in front of cameras whining about EVERYTHING. It makes good television for the main stream media, but what does it accomplish? NOTHING!!
I watched CNN for 30 minutes one night where they had what seemed to be a magazine format. Wolf was the host and it was 30 minutes of United States bashing with undercurrents that it is all Bush and the republicans fault. It was past yellow journalist. It was anti-american interest proganda and it makes one wonder where all that arab oil money profit goes to.
The Dems have created EVERY worthwhile program EVER in our history (Social Security, Medicare, etc..) the Reps have only done foolish things like invade Iraq. Now I pose the question: NAME ONE WORTH WHILE THING THE REPS HAVE EVER DONE?
End the cold war and removed a potential nuclear disaster off the table.. Help bring freedom and democracy to eastern europe jumps to my mind. Now how many wars were started by Democrats? Look it up and you would be surprised. Not that it was a bad thing but shows how things can be "spinned".
Obviously you don't care about the security of the United States and you don't realize that radical islam is the #1 enemy of this land. Question? Where do you want to fight these animals? Here or there? Do you want our troops 10 minutes away from these animals or 10 days? Our troops are smack in the middle of the scum of the world. You have Syria to the West, Iran to the East, and Saudi Arabia to the South. You should sleep better at night knowing that our fine men and woman are fighting these S.O.B.'s there instead of in our back yard. 2.) If you think that baby of yours is going to see Social Security when he/she comes of age, you are sadly misguided. These two government porgrams have been failures. Instead, the government should require us to have our OWN personal savings accounts where WE have the CHOICE to put these dollars into accounts of our CHOICE. Remember...7.5% comes from you and the other 7.5% comes from your employer. That's 15% for you people still in government schools and for people that are self-emplyed. If you want to stay in this failing program (stuck on stupid), go right ahead. If you want to to put this 15% into better performing funds (i.e., US T-Bills), then you should because it is YOUR money. BTW...I am rounding down to 15% because it actually is a bit more than this percentage. If you are in a 35% tax bracket and self employed, that is 50 cents on the dollar going to the feds NOT counting your local and state teaxes!! How much more do you want??? 3.) The programs you speak about are nothing more than taxes and income distribution. I'll make a deal...you take 7.5% (half) and blow it on all of the socialist programs you want and let me keep the other half to do with as I please. Wait!! An individual deciding what to do with their OWN money?? NEVER!! 4.) Republicans are more suited to protect this country than democrats. Their past history is pretty clear. Even going back to Lincoln (the 1st republican for people in government shcools), republicans made hard decisions in perserving and protecting this country. Since Kennedy was president, name one democrat in office that demonstrated leadership in protecting and defending this country and its interest?? Johnson? Carter? Clinton? 5.) According to the latest polls, 76% of our troops support and back the president. That is the same president who ordered them into battle. Now you would think that if he was doing such a bad job defending our country, the polls would have been reversed!! Better yet, ask the troops who they would rather have as Commander-in-Chief? Bush, Kerry, Edwards, Ted Kennedy or Harry Reid? It pretty much speaks volumes.
I guess FRD did bring us into WWII. vietnam was mostly LBJ (I am not a big fan of his) but tricky dicky kept it going. those wierd cocaine wars were all reagan. The cold war was overblown, and I think Jimmy started the SALT talks. None of those things relate to domestic prosperity, they are military industrial complex stuff.
Again mostly military industrial complex stuff (mil-ind-complex stuff is largely counted as a neg., give me a peace and prosperity guy like Clinton any day). SS is pretty good (but I agree that we need to stop the disability fraud), my mom gets it and works part time because she wants to not because she has to. We may have some common ground though, the waste fraud and abuse make my blood boil also (that is a Rep and Dem problem). the troops can choose who they like I'll take Teddy
A Democrat was in the White House during the start of 4 of the 6 major wars involving the USA within the last 100 years. Thought I'd mention that it was a Republican President, DDE, who first warned the American people about the rise in power and influence of the military-industrial complex, and we can thank President Johnson and his Vietnam policies for getting that ball rolling. At the same time he tried to build a "Great Society" that amounted to little more than massive wealth redistribution and a forwarding of the greatest Liberal lie of them all: The American people need government to take care of them because they are incapable of taking care of themselves. Hogwash. The Cold War was overblown? Would you care to qualify that ridiculous one-liner? So, you want some domestic stuff too? Let's see, where were interest rates when Jimmy Carter left office? Gas lines/prices? Inflation? How did Americans feel about themselves as a people and a nation? In what shape was our military (relates to domestic security)? Did our enemies respect us? The Reagan administration did more to end the "overblown" Cold War than any other US administration, or any other country for that matter. Reagan was labeled a “warmonger,” but how many wars did the US fight during those 8 years? How many American lives were lost? How much US treasure was spent? If given the opportunity I'd opt out of Social Security so fast it would make your head spin. I don’t need some pencil-necked government bureaucrat taking care of me in my old age.
I have always liked Ike, he was the nice guy who smiled alot, and no one knew more about the dangers of the military for the military's sake. Are you saying nothing came out of the great society? Cold war, basically the Ruskies were bumblers, we were always head and shoulders above them. It served their power people and our power people to have this facade though. Jimmy Carter was stoned walled, the blame goes with cong. not Jimmy. Reagan, the story is yet to be told, W refused to release the Reagan docs but they will eventually come out. History will not be kind to this man.
I'd be as hard pressed to find anything "great" about the Great Society as it would be for you to: "NAME ONE WORTH WHILE THING THE REPS HAVE EVER DONE." Interesting that you think the Cold War was mostly pretense, but you reference the SALT talks in defense of Jimmy Carter. Carter was stonewalled? Every time? He's completely blameless? Hmmm.... Does that apply to Republican Presidents as well? I disagree with you about Reagan and how he will be treated by history. He did a lot of good for this country and for the people of the world.

And let us not forget Clinton had a Yugo hospital blown up, a commuter train blown up and the factory that made the Yugo's blown up along with alot of cilivian Yugo's in their cities. It was the first time a Euopean City was bombed and it was Clinton. And let us not forget Clinton went into the Somalia, and we ended up blowing up stuff their as well as having our soldiers blown up by the nation we went in to feed. And Clinton did lob some missles into the Sudan and into Iraq in between speeches as a way of speaking. etc... Not that I am Clinton bashing here but Danr, I think it would be hard to find any president who did not engage in a type of Warfare, nevermind that the Democrats brought this nation into most wars and the Republicans ended Vietnam and the Cold War. One can not really say that the Republican party is the warrior party if one really looks into it. By the way, at one time the Russians had the most feared ground army in the world. I would think it would be China today, but that is Asia's and Europes problem more then ours.
If you are honest you will admit that Clinton was anti-military. He knew that old Ike was right. The Military Ind complex could not get away with any shanagans under Clinton's watch.
Sounds like you had tea with him. He smiled a lot. Gee Whez. I suppose you voted for Clinton because you liked his hair. When I read a post like this, they should have voters pass a test before they are allowed to vote. Nothing but a bunch of people that now demand their government provide for them instead of taking action themself. All it did was create a totally dependent society on government. Our ancestors are rolling in their graves watching today's "gimmee, gimmee, gimmee....you owe it to me" society. Reagan called the Soviet Union the "evil empire" and his policy (strong defense) forced the soviets to spend more on "bullets than butter." Reagan knew the Russians couldn't keep up as their defense budget was nearly 25% of their GNP compared to our 3% (give or take a half percent). Consequently, the Russian people had enough with long bread lines and wanted a taste of freedom. All and all, it was a high states poker game and the Soviet Union folded. Excuse me...Carter had a democratic house and senate. So are you saying his own party stone walled him? I am sure he was a nice guy too that liked to smile, but he was way over his head. A brilliant man surrounded by idiots (i.e. Burt Lance). One of the reasons why Reagan destroyed him in the 1980 election. Reagan's only mistake in my book is that he didn't shut down the government when congress was spending too much. Tax revenues doubled in his 8 years, EVEN with this tax cut of 70% to 28%! It was the longest peace time economic bomb in our country's history. Liberals can't grasp that the best way to increase revenue is to ecourage capital investment, new businesses, less regulation, etc...NOT increases taxes! Reagan should have been tougher with congress on spending. Also, Reagan, Thatcher and Pope John Paul II were the three reasons why commumism failed during this time. BTW...Reagan smiled too. He was always positive what was in store for this country. Did you like his smile too?
Come on Rick. Let's see a liberal brain-flower-child in action. I always love to see a liberal's call to action. It's like Danr when he said he liked IKE because he smiled alot. Brilliant!! I bet your plan is nothing more than class warfare, fears of burning black churches, and income tax redistribution. It always is, always will be because face it...YOU HAVE NO PLAN other than anti-this and anti-that. Face it, liberals have no vision for this country. I am proud to be a conservative. Why aren't you proud to be a liberal? Don't try to hide behind terms like "progressive" or "moderate" because we can see through it. Come on rick, let's see what you got. I could use a laugh!
