As much as I despise socialists and communists like Bernie Sanders, I despise Hillary Clinton even more. So thank you, Michigan, for depriving that wizened old hag a victory in your state. She thought it was going to be an easy win, but I suppose Michigan has more hardcore democratic socialists and democratic communists than she realized. Or perhaps it's just a lot more democrats who are wanting free college, free healthcare and whatever else Bernie is wanting to give away. Fox News projects: Sanders upsets Clinton in Michigan; Trump notches 2 big wins March 8, 2016 Bernie Sanders pulled off a shocking upset Tuesday night, beating Hillary Clinton in the Michigan Democratic primary — where some polls going into the race had him trailing by double-digits — and wiping out Clinton's win earlier in the night in Mississippi. Republican front-runner Donald Trump, meanwhile, regained any momentum lost last weekend against Ted Cruz, sweeping to convincing victories in Michigan and Mississippi, sending a message to the Republican establishment to jump on board — or get out of the way. Fox News projects Cruz will win the Idaho GOP primary, with Trump placing second there. But Trump's earlier victories were more valuable in terms of delegates. And the results Tuesday also may help determine the fate of Marco Rubio, who appeared once again to finish the night failing to gain any delegates. Cruz and John Kasich, meanwhile, were locked in a dogfight for second place in Michigan, the neighboring state to Ohio, where Kasich is counting on a win next week to salvage his campaign. On the Democratic side, Clinton easily won Mississippi’s primary earlier Tuesday, thanks in part to her overwhelming support from black voters, and likely will pick up more delegates in Tuesday’s contests than Sanders. But the Vermont senator’s surprising Michigan win could give him a bounce as he and the rest of the candidates charge into the vital March 15 primaries in Florida, Ohio and three other big states. All 15 pre-election polls in Michigan this year showed Clinton leading Sanders by double-digits. Michigan is the ninth and largest state that Sanders has won so far in the Democratic presidential campaign. Sanders chief strategist John Weaver blasted out a memo touting the Michigan performance, saying the state “provides a springboard into the races on March 15, the day the race will officially reset." For his part, Trump is looking to March 15 to sideline the rest of the GOP field for good – something he tried to start doing Tuesday night. At a press conference at his golf club in Juniper, Fla., he said of his remaining rivals, “They’re pretty much all gone.” Michigan was the biggest prize on the map Tuesday, with four states in total voting. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...an-trump-notches-2-big-wins.html?intcmp=hpbt1
This story is from March 5th. OOPS. Poll: Clinton has big lead on Sanders in Michigan March 5, 2016 Coming off a strong showing on Super Tuesday, Hillary Clinton goes into Sunday’s debate in Flint with rival Bernie Sanders with a commanding 25-point lead in Michigan’s Democratic presidential primary, according to a new Free Press poll that suggests it may be too late for him to battle back to a victory here despite a strong effort in recent days. The survey of 400 likely Democratic primary voters by EPIC-MRA of Lansing showed widespread support for Clinton, the former secretary of state and first lady, who with a win in Michigan on Tuesday could build on her already considerable lead in the delegate count over Sanders, and further improve her momentum heading into key contests the following week, including those in Florida, Ohio and Illinois. The poll, done for the Free Press, WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) and their outstate polling partners, shows Clinton with a 56%-31% margin over Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont. Even that numerical advantage doesn't fully convey the strength of her candidacy among Democratic primary voters in Michigan, however, given that she has leads among most demographic groups of age, income, race and geography in the state. http://www.freep.com/story/news/politics/2016/03/05/clinton-has-big-lead-sanders-michigan/81270490/
Go Michigan! Go Trump! I don't know how it has happened, but I am friends with some Bernie supporters (omg!)(we absolutely cannot discuss politics)..they are happy about Sanders winning Michigan. I'm of course happier than they are..(Trump!)
I've only been down there a couple times. The first was as a kid in Ann Arbor...spent 5 months in a hospital there. As an adult I went through Charlevoix and Petoskey on route to Traverse City for a conference. We visited the sand dunes. Hell climbing up but fun jumping my way down lol
I'm "under the bridge" by about 60 miles, so, considered a troll!! Ha ha. An hour north of Traverse. Rural, farm area. Yuppers are over the bridge. They're rednecks for sure up there!! Ha ha!
Grew up in Detroit. 5 mile and Gratiot. Real Detroit. "You-pers" is how it is pronounced. Haven't had a good pizza, gyro sandwich, or "coney" hot dog since. Lucy Ray.....at least you can eat fresh Walleye and pasties? Is that what you call them?
Arizona, I went to Redford High School, Grand river and Six Mile, Detroit proper..lived in Northwest Detroit, Brightmoor area, Schoolcraft and Outer Drive. In the 70's.. Speaking of good coneys, I've not had a good one since moving away from that area..Lafayette Coney, way downtown was a good one. There was a great one on Woodward, south of 9, Onassis? Early to mid 70's.. Moved up here, north of traverse, full time in 98. I hate to admit this, but in high school, when skipping school, which I did, we would catch the Grand River bus and take it clear downtown with a transfer..all the way. It wasn't scary back then. I would never do it today.
