You know, because he's a great leader and stuff.

'White House could offer to roll back sanctions in first Trump-Putin meeting'

"Donald Trump has told White House aides to come up with possible concessions to offer as bargaining chips in his planned meeting next week with Vladimir Putin, according to two former officials familiar with the preparations.

"National security council staff have been tasked with proposing “deliverables” for the first Trump-Putin encounter, including the return of two diplomatic compounds Russians were ordered to vacate by the Obama administration in response to Moscow’s interference in the 2016 election, the former officials said. It is not clear what Putin would be asked to give in return."

    ...

"Evelyn Farkas, who was deputy assistant secretary of state in the defence department for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, said the closure of the Russian compounds and the expulsion of suspected spies were intended to be only the first step in the punitive measures against Moscow for its election meddling.

"'If President Trump starts to undo any of those measures, including giving back the facilities in Maryland and New York then the Russian government will believe … they got away with what they did to us and believe me, they’ll try it again,' Farkas said. “Putin himself uses that phrase all the time: 'With the eating grows the appetite'.

"With Congress and most of his administration set against concessions to Russia, Trump has been hemmed in so far in his overtures to Moscow. His encounter with Putin next week, however, will offer him the opportunity to remake policy on the spot.

"'The big wild card in all this is the person holding the position of president of the United States,' Malinowski said. 'We don’t know what he will say when he meets the master-manipulator from the Kremlin.'"

Trump doesn't care about the damage to this country he is doing nor the damage to the presidency in general. He only cares about Trump. He is the worst kind of dictator or Dick-tator there is and he is happening to this country. How long can this go on?

It is maybe a little bit disturbing that at this late stage our President still doesn't have a strategy for his upcoming tete-a-tete with his Russian counterpart. I've heard of this book called, "The Art of the Deal". It was written by someone who is apparently a master at this stuff. Perhaps the Trumpster should pick up copy.

He has a strategy. First, he'll look longingly in Putin's eyes and smile, then he'll offer his hand. What he really wants to do after that is to kiss him passionately and grope him, but he's afraid to. Instead, he'll probably just give Putin everything he wants and maybe throw in California for the hell of it.

I hope that congress is willing to show some backbone and cut Trump off at the knees if he tries to hand over any concessions to Putin. However, relying on this congress to demonstrate the presence of any kind of backbone is a long shot at best. Republicans are sniveling, opportunistic cowards with no end to their personal greed, no morals, and no ability to competently govern under the best of circumstance. They make me ill.
