Was she shot dead by the gun OR by the person wielding the gun? There are many deaths caused each year by drunk drivers, but should we blame those deaths on the car?
I have a feeling that the Sheriff's 15 minutes of fame may be winding down. In the future, whenever someone speaks without thinking particularly in an extremely partisan fashion and at inappropriate times, he or she will be labeled a "DUPNIK".
Dr Moen you are exploiting this little girl's death to advance your anti-gun agenda & I find it despicable. Rather than admit this tragedy was the result of an unbalanced individual you want to make it political...blame it on guns, blame it on the Tea Party...anything as long as it serves your purpose.
I just read where this Sheriff in Tuscon is advocating the creation of a federal govn't "civility board".
And this board is supposed to investigate people talking smack (for the lack of a better term) about other people? I think I have a candidate for their first case. Anyone care to guess who?
This sheriff is reallllllllly starting to sound like a left-wing, liberal, whacko, nut-job loon. Civility board, my ass.. I wonder who he'll put in charge of it? Himself probably because, of course, he knows best.
Speaking of whacko, nut job loons, (and your ass), is my portrait done?? I know you couldn't have run out of brown yet.
Although I don't know where David's comment about advocating a "civility board" came from I will tell you this OKC. The last time I checked local Sheriffs don't leap to any federal position by appointing themselves. Correct me if I"m wrong and please cite examples. Now, am I in agreement with his statements? Nope. It should have been handled in a much more professional way IMHO. I'd like to see some real "police work" involved myself. I would like to know WHY this sick bastad decided to open fire and kill 6 innocent people. In all honesty I'm leaning toward political reasons for the obvious but I am prone to believe this guy has some other issues as well. Would you possibly agree with that assessment? Here's where you really lose me with your own rhetoric. Change a few words and you have... Blanket statements such as these can work both ways you see. If someone doesn't agree with me are they a "right wing loon"? If someone doesn't agree with you are they a "left wing loon"? Generally not I am inclined to believe. Here's my final point in this post anyway. Would you like to know what the shooters motivation really was or would you rather attack the Sheriff? I'd like to know more whether or not I agree with it. Six people will remain dead.
And I thought Dupnik was bad, now Westboro Baptist Church plans to protest the funeral of Christina-Taylor Green. Tucson Angels To Counter Westboro Protesters At Funeral of Tuscon Shooting Victim Christina-Taylor Green - ABC News (Don't worry, Moen. It is not Fox.) I could not write what I think ought to happen to them. That is just ultra sick.
Honestly David I would hope that ANYONE here agreed with this statement but...... We don't. Or close enough to anyone else for that matter. We'lll never know and it's too late now. Every day that we wake up for sure. ...and back to square one. If anyone recalls I had no real problem with the Rand Paul "incident" until an obviously subdued woman with visible hands was "head stomped". Had any of Giffords people been able to do the same I would applaud them. This particular moron had a gun and used it repeatedly. I have no beef with you on this one David. You're right. A head stomp is MUCH better than six dead for sure. The big question is will it get worse and how do we stop it?
David read where the sheriff is advocating the creation of a "civility board". If so, the sheriff apparently believes we need more "civility" in this nation. So I ask, "civility" based on whose standards? Does he want to inhibit my right to free speech based on his standards? How does he want to make my speech more "civil"? Absolutely not! There is no indication or evidence that this nut had any political reasons to do what he did. You can disagree with me all you want. I encourage thoughtful debate. There can be "right-wing loons" just as easily as there can be "left-wing loons". This sheriff obviously doesn't like the current political climate and considers the debate against the administration to be vitriolic. That's his opinion. But, when he gets on TV and tells me to "tone it down" or that something should be done to keep me some speaking my opinion, then YES, he's a loon. He's stepping on my constitutional right to free speech. He happens to be left-wing, so he's a "left-wing loon". Had he been right-wing and told me the same thing, I'd call him a "right-wing loon". God only knows if we'll find out the shooter's motivation. But, the title of this thread is "Tea Party Responsible for shooting?" Since the sheriff attacked everyone's right to free speech and specifically those people who don't agree with his leftist views, then I'm going to respond to that in kind. In so many words, I think I've said, "NO, the Tea Party was not responsible". I would like the sheriff to show one shred of evidence that it was.
Sorry, Clembo, but I am very interested in finding "shooters motivation really was", but just how can I trust the findings when the sheriff responsible for at least part of those findings has already determined that the conservatives are responsible for shooter's motivation?
For both you and OKC I understand your point. As with many other cases we may never actually know. One thing we do still have is the fact that the sick bastaaad is still alive so perhaps one day we will know his reasoning. As warped as it may be.
Well if anyone really thinks civility doesnt have a standard, then perhaps they do need a board to set one. I'm not talking about how one behaves among their friends or family either.
While I admit to only clicking page 4 and not reading the entire thread, here is my take. #1. To blame this on anyone else but the shooter is irresponsible #2. Good News, Westboro has cancelled plans to picket the funeral side note: My church had 4 buses , 160 peole, ready to go down and blockde those fookers from Westboro Good wins, bad loses
