The biased media is having a field day trying to blame the right for this guy buy here's a story that I haven't heard mentioned anywhere:
Jared Loughner, Alleged Shooter in Gabrielle Giffords Attack, Described by Classmate as "Left-Wing Pothead" - Phoenix News - Valley Fever

Seems that someone who has known him for years says he's a liberal.
I watched Andrea Mitchell on NBC this morning imply that Palin's figurative use of cross hairs was to blame for this shooting, never mentioning any other possibility. Why would a right-winger target Giffords anyway? She seemed to have some conservative-leaning beliefs. I predict it will come out that this sicko targeted Giffords because she wasn't liberal enough.

It will probably be a case where the shooter was influenced by the "voices in his head" as opposed to any political leaning.

I don't think the sheriff was professional by bringing up his political beliefs in a news conference about the shooting. He was also trying to psychoanalyze the shooter which is something he's probably not qualified to do.

As bad as this sounds, I almost expect it from the media today. However, this is the sheriff in charge of the investigation at least on a state level. He is supposed to be proceeding on the facts of the case rather than his own political feelings.

Megyn Kelly interviews County Sheriff Dupnik:

It sounds like Sheriff Dupnik would like to shut down political discourse in this country. He should be focusing on the investigation, not taking time to spout his political rhetoric. VERY unprofessional...! He even said that he didn't know whether or not the shooter had been influenced by the current political climate; it was just his opinion. I ask Sheriff Dupnik to return to his duties and focus on the evidence.

When the media talks about the uncivil politcial discourse in our country it is usually the conservative radio show hosts they are referring to. I find it funny that they never mention the lefty radicals who are even more hateful, such as the Alan Graysons & Nancy Pelosis of the world. Not to mention all the vile, evil things that were said about Bush while he was in office.

Also, in Andrea Mitchell's report this morning, she did mention (albeit very briefly) that a liberal blogger (who she failed to identify) took down their site where it was mentioned "Giffords is dead to me" because of her criticisms of Nancy Pelosi. And Dr Moen wonders why there is a demand for an outlet such as FOX News?

OH, I hadn't heard that yet! But, mostly I've been watching MSNBC today.

Man, can she cut them to shreds and I do not even think he understood what was going on.

    I love the sheriff's line (I think I got it right);
".....one party trying to block the attempts of another party to make this a better country...."

I wish I were in Tuscon. I would do everything I could to get that guy either impeached or at least not re-elected.

It was in Andrea Mitchell's report this morning on the Today Show, the first half hour, I believe.

You got it exactly right. He is sounding like a partisan hack and a fool. He's entitled to his political beliefs, but as a professional he should focus on the task at hand. He's stated that he has no evidence ("YET!") that the shooter was politically motivated. So why is Dupnik even bringing it up? Very, very foolish on his part.

It's simple- these Dims are guilty of everything they blame to right for.

I wonder now if anyone is now second-guessing their harsh criticism of Rand Paul's aide for taking action when Paul was approached by that lady after a debate?

For some reason I doubt it David.

    Was she stupid? Yes.
Did she kill six people? No.

Big difference here for anyone keeping a scorecard. A subdued idiot getting her head stomped on VS. a lunatic with a gun firing at will and managing to wound and kill. Hey let's toss in a nine year old victim for sheets and giggles.

Is this guy mentally disturbed? Well IMHO anyone that goes anywhere and just starts shooting is. End of story.

Tea Party motivated? Who knows. Perhaps some day we'll find out.

Unfortunately a politician was involved and it appears she was the target. She took a bullet to the head.
Follow what media you want but what does this really say about our country if it IS politically motivated?

Do we stomp heads or dodge bullets? Who will win? - or do we all lose?

Why have none of you ever criticized Joe Arpaio? He certainly voices his political leanings when discussing police work.

I wonder two things. Is Giffords going to be reconsidering her support of gun owner's rights and is the State of Arizona going to be reconsidering their new conceal carry law?

I don't live in his district and I have not exactly followed his political career, but I have never once heard him express any political opinion on any crime that he was investigating. I was wondering if you might be able to give us a couple references, please. Be sure that you can tie his comments to a crime is is/was investigating at the time of his comments.

How do you really know until it's too late?
Maybe someone could have stopped this shooter before he got close enough to Giffords to pull the trigger? A whole world of possibilities & scenarios exist. I just believe a stomped head is better than dead bodies.

I doubt it. A handgun was simply his weapon of choice on this occassion. Without access to a handgun he could have used his car to run her over or used a bat...a million possibilities exist for this whacko if he was intent on killing Rep Giffords.

I doubt that the citizens of Arizona will let this incident affect their constitutional rights. If so, you may as well take away the right to practice religion because there are a few fringe people out there handling snakes and drinking strychnine.

This whole situation reminds me of something Golda Meir said about the Arabs....

"Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us."
    - Golda Meir

If we were to update that saying for this tragedy, it would read something like....

"Peace will come when enough Americans love their children more than they love their guns."

Let us not forget that a 9-year old girl was shot dead.
