We do not have to borrow the money !!! Stop saying that !!!
We just have to spend less and maintain the current revenue stream, the same as we are forced to do in every one of our households.....

In other words, everytime you max out your credit card, do you cut spending and pay it down, or do you just never endingly increase your credit limit. I think that is as plain as I can say it.

The 'Starve The Beast' strategy has not worked well for the country over the last 30 years. One thing that we are going to see is Bankrupt the Beast. But, that is not going to be pretty. Not one little bit. lol

About 95% of all government revenue (probably more than 100% after this bill passes) is spent on Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, Defense and interest on the debt. We can;t stop paying the interest. The Republicans already said they aren't cutting defense in their pledge or whatever it was, and no one is going to touch the big entitlement programs because they know it is political suicide. We won't ever cut out way out of debt. But, neither party is willing to raise taxes on the majority of the people. So we borrow for everything else the government does. From roads to tax breaks. So there we are.

I'm all for cutting spending but I am also realistic enough to know both that it has never happened since WWII and that even something as unlikely as a 10% across the board cut wouldn't begin to address the debt. We simply have to raise more revenue and handing out tax cuts to the wealthy is the wrong direction to go in since they are the only ones with money anymore. Instead, we WILL borrow more money from China and go further into debt. Did you happen to notice the reaction the bond market had to the possibility of this tax break being extended? It wasn't positive. Tell me we don't have to borrow and lie to yourself but I know the truth.

It is effectively the same thing as borrowing the revenue that was to projected to be actual revenue that Bush peddled away with the promise of it only being temporary. Sad but greed is very predictable. Maintaining lavish lifestyles is numero uno, even when the spare change falling out of the pockets of the madmen is greedily hoarded back in with their gazillions, and at the expense of the people that actually need it, and usually the same people they ripped it off from to begin with.

Tell me Jack, where would we be able to cut spending enough to pay this bill off? U.S. National Debt Clock

We simply have to stop pretending we can have government for free. And YES we are borrowing the 900 billion for this extended tax break.
