Oh boy! I just can't wait until Sept 5th (after BO returns from his latest Martha's Vineyard jaunt) to find out what BO's plan is! I wonder how he's coming along with that?
Have you guys ever seen The Office? There's an episode where the doofus boss tries to distract the disgruntled workers by promising a big surprise at the end of the workday. He proceeds to waste the whole day trying to come up with something only to disapoint in the end . Sound familiar?

Pretty much every Republican candidate has stated that they would reduce the corporate tax rate in order to give companies an incentive to spend their profits and start hiring again.

UM ok so they want to lower the rate that would be well and good if all of those companies actualy paid the going rate LOL

Of the 500 big companies in the well-known Standard & Poor’s stock index, 115 paid a total corporate tax rate — both federal and otherwise — of less than 20 percent over the last five years, according to an analysis of company reports done for The New York Times by Capital IQ, a research firm. Thirty-nine of those companies paid a rate less than 10 percent.

Over the last five years, on the other hand, Boeing paid a total tax rate of just 4.5 percent, according to Capital IQ. Southwest Airlines paid 6.3 percent. And the list goes on: Yahoo paid 7 percent; Prudential Financial, 7.6 percent; General Electric, 14.3 percent.

Now here we have the crux of the matter and both the President and Republicans agree that something has to be done about it.

You see whats the point in lowering the tax rate when so (1/5th of the top 500) many avoid it allready? and I dont see those companies that have avoided paying what they should have going out and hiering more workers do you?

I would however agree that the corporation tax level in the US is too high but with so many loopholes available and companies quite willing to exploit those loopholes!! (Bit of a viciouse circle)

Now in 2010 you had this

Employers who hire unemployed workers this year (after Feb. 3, 2010 and before Jan. 1, 2011) may qualify for a 6.2-percent payroll tax incentive, in effect exempting them from their share of Social Security taxes on wages paid to these workers after March 18, 2010. This reduced tax withholding will have no effect on the employee’s future Social Security benefits, and employers would still need to withhold the employee’s 6.2-percent share of Social Security taxes, as well as income taxes. The employer and employee’s shares of Medicare taxes would also still apply to these wages.
In addition, for each worker retained for at least a year, businesses may claim an additional general business tax credit, up to $1,000 per worker, when they file their 2011 income tax returns.
“These tax breaks offer a much-needed boost to employers willing to expand their payrolls, and businesses and nonprofits should keep these benefits in mind as they plan for the year ahead,” said IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman.

How many companies went out and hired new workers?

How interesting. FICA counts when it is good for your side, but not when you don't want it to.

I will use the Democrat answer. Just enough to offset the the number being laid off which is why the unemployment rate has not changed much. But if those incentives were not in place, maybe we would be facing double digit unemployment.

Besides, Obamacare has also had a dramatic effect on hiring. I didn't mention that as part of the Republican plan because I thought it was understood.

Ahh yes. Ease the burden on those poor corporations. There's the answer (once again). With this mindset of the disconnected so rampant, I don't see how anybody CAN'T see why we're all in the fix we're in right now. Unfortunately, that IS the mindset of the wealthy, and they're going to take us all to the grave very soon. You can't fix what you don't acknowledge, and apparently the disconnect of the wealthy is going to stay a disconnect. Minus 700-100 by the end of the week.....Go corporate America!! Greed is good!

With a 9.5 unemployment rate, Reagan took a 25 day vacation. George Bush had taken twice as much vacation at this point as Obama has taken. I think if the Right wishes to criticize the president, they should at least have a better grasp of their own history. Of course having a grasp of what they did yesterday would probably be a stretch.

Is it so hard to understand that when our business & economy are thriving we all (you & me) prosper but when business & economy are stagnant we all suffer?
To put it in terms you can relate to, say in a thriving economy a business makes 100, the worker makes 25 but in a stagnant, anti-business economy the business only makes 50. What do you think happens to the workers wage? That's right! It goes down even more plus there's a better chance the job may not even be there. You just have to come to grips with the reality that for anyone of us here to make it, our economy (and our businesses) has to be strong & robust. In this scenario the chances of everyone being better off is greater than in your fantasy world. You may not like it but it's the truth.

You see what I mean straight away it is attack the other party instead of been willing to accept that both are equaly at fault! American corporations are not creating jobs in America because they are fearful of the Obama administration they are not creating them because they are fearful of Washington and it's stagnation
    Ah yes Obamacare LOL

Groupthink, a term coined by social psychologist Irving Janis (1972), occurs when a group makes faulty decisions because group pressures lead to a deterioration of “mental efficiency, reality testing, and moral judgment”. Groups affected by groupthink ignore alternatives and tend to take irrational actions that dehumanize other groups. A group is especially vulnerable to groupthink when its members are similar in background, when the group is insulated from outside opinions, and when there are no clear rules for decision making.
