    Okay then, why did BO put the country through this mess when we already had a plan in place?

    Not sure what you mean by this mess. And Medicare has restrictions.

    Oh, I think you understand. We already had/have a program in place for those who don't have health coverage....but covering those who needed it just wanted wasn't enough for BO.

    A big part of his healthcare plan is an expansion of Medicaid. It will increase Medicaid enrollment by a third. That would mean about an extra 20 million people on Medicaid. Since estimates of the uninsured range from 40 to 50 million, that means 40-50% of the uninsured getting insurance will get it through Medicaid.

    The number I thought was 17 million uninsured but you may be right.
    I still don't understand why Obamacare isn't concentrated on the the uninsured, be it 17 or 40 million rather than the entire population of 320 million?

    End of last year it was around 50 million

    Number of uninsured Americans rises to 50.7 million - USATODAY.com

    but I am sure it is a fluctuating number. 40-50million is the range I have read.

    And I don't know a lot about the healthcare bill but my guess would be that the concentration on the other 320 million people is mostly to help pay for the 40-50million. Like with the fining people for too good of insurance, the fining people for not having insurance, etc. Fees on medical devices and insurers and pharm, etc.

    Another way of looking at that is;
    Orrin Hatch PolitiFact | Who are the uninsured? Hatch's take.

    Do the other 35 million have insurance?

    I am not for the healthcare bill but it seems a bit deceptive to subtract out, for instance, people who work for someone who offers insurance without knowing if they could actually afford that insurance. Unless I am misreading those numbers.

    Since both sides are known liars, It probably wouldnt be a stretch to guess the real number is somewhere in the middle.
